I got my learner's recently, and I drove on the streets for the first time (it feels awkward). Did any of you guys or gals fail the test the first time?

I failed my drivers test the first time by just a few points. Darn parallel parking and stuff. Second time I passed. I can't really say about the learners permit though.

Passed it no problem :D I know someone who failed but still got their Ps because their instructor was sick of them.

I failed my written L's test twice, damn give way questions! I then took over a year to get my Provisional License because I was lazy but I passed that test first go.

Not at all, I went for my learners permit shortly after I turned 16 and aced the quiz (they stopped it short because there was no way i could fail by that point) and about 9 months later i took a 5 minute driving test and aced that.....simple simon.

I failed the first time because the cones I was supposed to park between were *narrower* than the width of the vehicle I was driving. Only in America...

I know some one who failed it 4 times because she had to go renew her license. I got some easy sign questions and passed first time through, I felt so proud.

I failed my first driving test so fucking bad. I thought my sheet said I got 7 things wrong but in fact I got a 7. Out of 100.

My second time, ironically, I got a 93.

In Canada we have to do a written test to get our learners permit (in ontario anyway) and i failed that test like 4 times...the driving test i got 100% on though...im a good driver, not a good test taker.

OH NO! GET ON THE ROAD! THE SIDEWALKS ARE NO LONGER SAFE!

Actually, I failed my first time because everyone fails their first time at our DMV, it's an unspoken policy. I had one strike against me, which was a rolling stop, and it was enough to get me failed.

Second time, I had a rolling stop and "cut the corner too tightly" and passed. But it was the second time, so everything's good.

I passed both the written and driving tests on the first try, just barely. Anyway, congrats on the new freedom and resposibilities, OP.

I actually had to take my permit test 3 times, mostly because I kept making stupid mistakes (How the hell was I supposed to know how far I had to have my turn signal on for?!) and I got my license on my second try, mostly because my first instructor hated me (for some reason) and didn't even tell me what I did wrong.

But gratz to you OP, just ignore my ramblings.
:D...

I got all three steps of my license without failing once. Fuck yeah.
High five!

If it helps, my brother failed the first test: a computerized multiple-choice quiz.

Congrats on getting your L plates *high five*.

Everyone I know failed first time, including my parents, except for me who has passed everything first time. That includes my cat C. So I've had to take 2 theory tests, 2 hazard perception tests and 2 practical tests, one in a car, the other in a rigid chassis HGV and each one I have passed.

I don't mean to brag, I shit myself the same as everyone else does, especially on the lorry tests, £1500 is alot of money to throw away so the pressure on me was quite high.

My brother is without a doubt a beter driver than me. He also passed his Cat C first time round. His car on the other hand he failed because he didn't use the "bus only" lane when he should have because the hours of operation were over so it was avaliable for anyone to use. What a silly thing to fail on.

If I pass my C+E (Artic for those in the UK, Semi/18 wheeler for those across the pond) first time then I will have completed the whole set. Fingers crossed for that and fingers crossed for you to OP.

In California, you fail if you get 15 errors while taking the License Test. I got 14 on my first try! WOOOO!
The Permit Test was just about the easiest thing in the world, though. I missed 2 out of 50.
