Hugh Jackman for being the star of my three least favorite movies. Don't know how anyone considers him a quality actor

It's hard to say since there are so many. If I hsd to bring it down to one person it would probably be "Snooki", but the Kardashians are probably ahead of her though I'd have to address them as a collective.Scarecrow1001 said:

I for example can't see WHY the Kardashian family is famous, they seem to be rich and famous for being rich and famous in a sort of Mobius strip of logic. The daughters good looking, but there are a lot of good looking women out there, and I just don't see what makes them so popular. "Snooki" seems like she's mostly famous for having been a loud mouth and getting in trouble on TV shows like "Jersey Shore". When you look at other "less popular" celebrities like Paris Hilton (Heiress, pretty, has done modeling and acting), Lindsay Lohan (Acting), Charlie Sheen (Acting) you can at least see why they became famous and their body of work is usually entertaining in some way. As much as you might frown at the trouble they get into, or the attitudes they project at times, you can't say deny that Charlie Sheen has done some incredible work for example, and that Lindsay Lohan's work has also been quite good (within it's niche) despite her self destruction. Paris Hilton seems to mostly just out to be fun, but again she's managed to land some pretty decent gigs over the years and held them down. The reality TV crowd though? Not really... I mean for a lot of them it seems to be "Hey, I keep it real on REALITY TV where I act like the arrogant jerk I am... you should respect this and buy stuff with my name on it because you know... I'm famous".
As far as Michael Jackson goes (since I a few people mentioned him) I'll be honest in saying I really liked him when I was younger. I used to love things like "Thriller" and "Beat it" and remember all the controversy he started when real people started tying their arms together and having knife fights because they saw it in the "Beat It" video and stuff (cheezy now, but it was cool and made an impression at the time). I liked his style and his attitude. Of course as time went on he started to get weirder and freakier. He did so much plastic surgery on himself that he didn't even look human anymore, I mean to me he looked like he should be a flesh eating monster. While he kept the high production values for his work, the actual content seemed lacking, and he did ridiculous things like screaming like a woman and kicking the crap out of a car (I have no idea why he thought that would be cool).
To be honest at one time I probably would have defended the man from sheer fandom, but frankly the way it went down (and when I was able to look at it rationally) I'm convinced he didn't just look like a monster, but he was one. I mean all of the stuff about him hanging out with kids wasn't that big a deal, I don't think everyone who does things like that is a pedo (basically nowadays being a nice guy is always considered creepy) but when they found that pervo throne room hidden in a secret room in his arcade, had him spending the night with young boys in his bed (and a video security system hooked to his bedroom door) and other things... well... let's just say I consider this to be one of the more outrageous examples of someone buying the legal system. Truthfully his death served to let his empire rule on before all of these scandals could finally drag everything down.
The point here is I can get why a lot of people hate Michael Jackson, my opinion of him is *very* negative nowadays. However as a fan once (of his older stuff) I can also say I understand why he was a celebrity, and had such a cult of personality. The dude self destructed, but the guy was also talented on a lot of levels, and brought a level of production into music that it had previously never seen before.
Well, to be fair Hugh Jackman has done some really mixed work. "Les Miserabes", "Van Helsing", "Real Steel", and others are all movies which gave people really mixed impressions. "Van Helsing" has legions of haters apparently. He's also appeared in political comedies like "Butter", and of course another one of his big movies is "The Prestige".Ieyke said:
It's easy to hate on his X-men work when your a fan boy, and really a lot of the problems there was the script and directing. Hugh Jackman didn't do a terrible job playing the character he was given (Wolverine is a cool character, but rather one dimensional, Hugh plays him fairly well, though he's way too tall, they should have used FX to make him look shorter at the very least).
See I'm one of those guys who would say that "Van Helsing" is a bad movie (though one that can be entertainingly bad viewed in the right mind) and that includes his part of it, Les Miserabes despite some critical acclaim was kind of terrible with the biggest praise being "well, he didn't do as badly as it could have been", and of course "The Prestige" was kind of slow and pretty much had the one cool idea to work with.
None of which would be on my personal "worst movies ever" list mind you, but I could see how Hugh Jackman could easily have been in three of those for someone.... oh and now I just remembered I once sat through "Australia" with him in it as well... that was another winner.
I'd say he's pretty good, but that he's been in some bad movies.
But even when it comes to the bad movies...I think he still tends to be good even if the movie sucks around him.
The worst I can say is that I don't remember Australia. Even he wasn't distinct enough to register in my mind in that movie.

For sure. The internet is full of this pop star hate, but no one ever seems to acknowledge that there are people pulling the strings and that when Justin Beiber becomes a washed-up shell of his former self with no remaining fans, they'll just rope in another naive young teen to do the exact same thing. Because the stars have faces while the industry is faceless, the stars are always the ones getting all the blame.Avaholic03 said:

And supposedly he also sold Phil Hartman's wife the drugs she was on when she killed him and then herself, so I hold him indirectly responsible for the murder of one of my favorite actor/comedians.

The Fountain was....weird. It was actually good in its own way, but utterly and completely weird. I can see how people would not like it.

We have a world with Eddie Murphy movies, Jar Jar, Batman & Robin, stuff starring Larry The Cable Guy, Catwoman, etc etc etc, while Hugh Jackman's movies are great at best and just totally forgettable at worst.
I don't care much about celebrities in general, so I can't say I like any of them to be honest. However, I can honestly say I really dislike Bill Maher. The guy hides behind hateful condescension and snark calling it "intellect."
Luckily, most people either seem to dislike him, or not care either way, and it's not hard to see why, he's unlikeable to everyone but those who agree with him on everything he puts out. I certainly would not say I hate him, that would be stooping to his level.
