Im pretty late to the party, but I just downloaded L4D2 like two weeks ago, and it's awesome.
So naturally, I want a L4D3. Do you think they'll make one, or just keep updating L4D2?

What would you like to see? Where would you like the setting to be? Any particular types of survivors?

Also, speaking of valve games with a three in the title, what ever happened to HL2 episode 3? Did valve just give up on it and is hoping we forget?

I would like to see a tropical section, or maybe a section that takes place during a snow storm.
Id also love to see custom characters. Like, make them look how you want, and choose a preset personality like in saints row.

Apparently it's been hinted at by Gabe Newell cos some guy asked him in the form of a haiku, and it is hinted.

I've always wanted to see a campaign on a cruise ship. The finale could be when it pulls into port, and has an automatic foghorn go off, calling all the remaining zombies on the boat and on land to the survivors. As for characters, I dunno. Part of me wants them to keep going with the ones we have now, at least, the L4D2 guys. The original 4 had a pretty conclusive end to their part. But I wouldn't be upset if we got all new ones.

We all know that valve can't count to three so there will be a L4D2: Episode 1 instead

Seriously over-used joke aside, considering they made L4D2 instead of just updating L4D1 it's more likely that they will make a new game

Also it should be set in a space station!

I'd rather they just keep releasing L4D2 content for a while.

As for Episode 3, all we know is that they are still planning on making more Half-Life at some point. They're being secretive for a reason, stay tuned.

Left 4 Dead 3 will have it's name changed to: Left 2 Die followed by parts 1 and 2.

Then L8 for Death Parts 1 and 2.

Finally Mystery in Es6: A British Adventure 1 and 2.

I've always wonderd if the l4d 2 guys would get their own comic too. I'm kinda curious at what happend to them. Perhaps one of the new maps could be set in key west, the island where the original cast of survivers went

Well, I'd like to see a little more variety in the tactics. I'm not sure how they would pull this off, but the whole advance/retreat&meleespam combo is a little old. I don't have ANY idea how to improve it, but that is the reason I stopped playing so that is what needs fixing.

Another cool thing would be if like, the maps were a lot bigger, and there were three teams of four, but they all started in different areas of the map, and it was up to them to find each other. Or not.

Plus, I'd like to see less linear maps, like you could take multiple different paths to get where your going. That would help replay value a lot.

Haven't played L4D2 since after I played through The Sacrifice. So I'm not sure what kinds of updates there have been since than. Or if any of those updates were only for the PC since I only have the 360 version.

I probably wouldn't mind a new game. Although that probably won't come out for 50 years. If we're lucky.

As would I. Although I wonder how that would that might affect the story. Granted, I never bought into L4D's story, but Valve has always kept regular characters in their games, and might not want to change that.

I'd also like to see some sort of progression system. It doesn't have to be a straight 'collect 1000 zombie scalps to unlock chainsaw', but maybe a set of challenges to unlock more parts for customizing your character. L4D never kept me around, because after I beat a mission enough times it ceased to be interesting, since by then you not only know how the levels work, but also where the pickups can spawn.

Well, they did give us some new zombies in the second one. Perhaps we can expect more in l4d3 that require us to put on new tactics

If anything, we'll probably get hats.

If there is a 3 I think they need to come up with something new, I mean just the same gameplay mechanics with new maps and new zombies or whatever wouldn't really cut it for me, and i'm saying that as someone who has put 370 hours into the series so far.
Unless they did something a bit more radical to the setting perhaps like (shock horror) setting it outside of America maybe, that might work... I was somewhat disappointed that L4D2 just shifted to southern USA tbh, seemed like a lazy move.

I feel like maybe the L4D series has more life in it somehow but i'm not really sure what they can do with it.. if anything i think L4D2 made some steps in the wrong direction, I certainly didn't find it anything like as enjoyable as the original and that was mostly down to balancing and tactics. L4D2 seemed designed to stamp on the idea of good teamplay, the maps were much less conducive to teamwork being effective and the weapons seemed mostly nerfed making 1 man team carrying much less viable.
The upshot of this was that the second game felt much less tight, there was less room for player skill to make a difference and less room for teamwork to make a difference and yet these were the two things that really made the original shine... Getting a good team together in L4D felt godlike.

Left4tress or Team4Dead, mayhaps?

HL2 Episode 3 will be released when people stop talking about it... oops just delayed it by another year, sorry!

I don't want to see another Left 4 Dead so soon, but I hope for a longer campaign set at the very least. 12 campaigns at six stages each, that would be great.

When L4D4 comes out how many fingers will be on the screen, cuz they can't have 4 (4 were on in the orignal L4D)

OT: I would want an open world, MMO style L4D, where there are lots of surviver groups per server who can interact with each other.

Semi-customisable weapons, like being able to afix a bayonet or grenade launcher to my assault rifle.

Also, get rid of that cheap Zerg rush of zombies that happens at the end of an episode. I know it "builds tension", but I'm sick of breezing through a campaign only to be felled at the last minute by another Tank that has just spawned in front of the get-away vehicle.
