Yeah, apparently Microsoft decided that you can't download M rated advertisment meterial, including trailers and demos, if the account is a child account, even if all parental controls and restrictions are off. It really pissed me off when they did this, especially that they didn't tell anybody since that caused me to spend about 5 hours going through all my xbox's settings thinking some parental controls had somehow reset themselves, then on the computer desperately trying to figure out what the fuck was going on. I kind of like it but it feel a bit repetitive. The director feature just seems to throw a bunch of zombies at you when everything has become a bit quiet. I don't think it justifies a full game price tag. I think I will get it so I can play with friends.[Gavo said:
I found GOW2's Horde mode more entertaining. Left 4 Dead doesn't seem to punish an individual who doesn't work with the team, instead the whole team suffers. I've seen people caught by the buys with the tongues and no-one else going to help.
I had to wait about 60 seconds before my team realised I was caught by one of them. When someone finally died because we weren't working as a team it fell apart for me. This happens in Horde mode too but it seems to a lesser extent.
I'll reserve judgement for the final version, I'm hoping for some inspired level design.

In Left 4 Dead, you must work together with your teammates. You must pace yourselves. You must make use of every resource available to you at any one point in time. (At least on Expert). There's plenty of depth to this game, I think... especially if you're comparing it to other shooters.
I think it's fun. My ONLY concern is what the longevity of the game will be. There's only 4 or 5 chapters made up of a few levels, and a good team could prolly blow through a whole chapter in 30 mins... so your looking at 2-4 hours of gameplay. Can the director change things THAT much to keep it interesting over the longterm?

There aren't many first person shooters I consider to be particularly deep - they are, essentially, blast your way to point A to B.Zyrusticae said:

That said, I've preordered my copy - I thought Gears of War completely lacked depth, too, doesn't mean they both aren't amazingly fun at times. Ran into my first Tank today - completely owned two of us, nearly killed me before we put it down. I'd started to think that that boss wasn't in the demo.
Just fix your PC, you know the game will be better on PC. I would cry if I had to play any Valve game on a console assuming it's a shooter.Aries_Split said:

Seriously, a very good demo - I haven't tried the single player yet though but my friend says its a bit flat. The multiplayer alone will see me parting with my cash for it ASAP though.

The demo is great. Problem is most of my mates have terrible pc's so they can't run it, and to me it really seems like one of those games i'd want to play alot more with friends rather than randomers, and i'd rather not get it on the 360 pc will always be better, undecided for now!
