Lookie Here! [http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=745113]

OK so it means that one of you has to use a controller.

I have tested, it works. Maybe split screen gaming isn't dead? Technically it is a mod, but the commands are in console for the split screen so perhaps something Valve intended but voted out?

Yes I know this is essentially a repost. But to be honest, half of you don't read the steam forums, and I wan't to open this into a discussion.

What games, released this season, could really REALLY do with split screen, and is it likely there will be a community mod for it? In before GTA IV.

EDIT: yes it has been edited. I'd edit it more, but I can't be arsed.

The console version has split screen as well, no doubt why it was so easy to achieve with the PC version.

Consoles have split screen, its quite popular. I don't really know what you're talking about.

You didn't realise you can even do split screen on a console, and the other two can be done over XBL?

You guys miss me point.

OK granted I didn't know it was able on the console. What I was referring to was more the general lack of split screen gaming with the second half of the post.

As I said I wanted to know if any of todays multiplayer non-splitscreen games would in your opinion suit a splitscreen. When I'm less tired and feeling less like an asshole I'll change the post.

Well sure, more split-screen would be nice I guess but split-screen has always been a console-centric element.

You know, assuming you're old enough to legally work wherever you live, the time you've spent writing all those 3149 posts could have been spent getting a job and working to buy better computer parts ;)

Just a suggestion :p
But you see I'm not a PC gamer. An intel GPU (laptop) and a netbook are all I need to play Company of Heroes. I play games on my 360 (Yes I was silly into think the intel 4500M could play Left 4 Dead but I assume since the Orange box worked...).

While your wit is only outweighed by your logic, Eggo, I'm afraid there are some people who just prefer playing on consoles. I know man, I know it sounds crazy and the concept is a hard one to grasp, but believe me it's true.

In a way yes, in a way no. Today I get the feeling that there isn't much of a need for splitscreen, as the internet and services such as PSN and XBL are so easily accessible. However, split screen is good for if you have a friend or two over. One good think about L4D is on its split screen it's not a local split screen - you're still playing the proper game with other people online. It's a really good idea.

Have you tried upgrading a laptop? Yes, I was silly into thinking an Intel GPU would suffice but seriously there is/was no video card option for my laptop. (My 4 yr old desktop is a slim agp so the 6200 was the best one that would work.)

I'm sorry, what contraction is this?

One I can't see. I meant I wanted to make it into a discussion about split screen in games. I don't know why I didn't separate the sentences.

He ment did you ment want, wanted or something else when you typed " wan't ".

any yeah consoles do have multiplayer here an there they don't really need anymore games spiltscreen but i think all racing games should have a local element for friends.

A month or two of working at just about any job (even part time) will give you more than enough money to build yourself an amazing gaming computer.

Anyway, this is getting off topic, but I'm sure you understand what I'm saying :)

Back to Left 4 Dead! I will definitely be trying this.
Sure, he could do that, or [a href="http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121273"]for a mere $45US...[/a]

Assuming the rest of the computer is up to it, of course.

Laptop not desktop. Ironically it now works on 1280 x 800 without crashing now that I took off that weird buffering setting.

EDIT: Woops. Didn't see it was nine days. Sorry I revived this dead thread.

Too bad it won't work for me. I have to run it at 640x480 let alone run it twice at once.
You should still be able to run it though, no matter what its still the same exact amount of pixels being rendered, its not two screens of 640x480, its two screens of 320x240. Think about it for a second. There may be two images being rendered but they are at half resolution.
