So, since it's Halloween, I felt the need to watch some older horror movies.
- Night of The Living Dead (1990 remake)
- Dawn of The Dead (2004 film)
Both by George A. Romero. Needless to say, I'm a big fan of Mr Romero and he is the father of "zombie movies".
First, I watched NoTLD and immediately I saw something I had seen in Left 4 Dead & L4D2.
- Tom, the teenager with a southern accent, wearing a baseball cap. L4D2 - Ellis. http://www.imdb.com/media/rm3252656640/nm0124834
- Ben, the African-American man, dressed in a suit and all that. L4D - Louis. http://www.necromaticmedia.com/images/zr_notld1990_02.jpg
Then, I watched DoTD and I saw a few more similarities.
- Officer Ken, the big bulky African-American cop. L4D2 - Coach. http://www.imdb.com/media/rm660052224/ch0002637
- The mall in which the movie takes place (most of the time) and the gun store keeper (Andy) opposite to it. L4D2 - The Mall & Whitaker's gun shop.
- The idea, planned by the survivors, to get to a boat and travel to an island. - L4D2, The Sacrifice.
I haven't seen any of Mr Romero's other movies in a long time, so I'm not sure if there's any more similarities.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of both Mr Romero and the L4D series, but, I can't help but feel that the creators of L4D paid an AWESOME tribute to the man who created the genre. Which is totally AWESOME.
So, what do you guys think?
