When you play as a team what is your basic strategy? Do you all stay in one room and fight as a unit or is there always some dip running around trying to play hero only to die horribly in a screaming fit? Me personally I just stay and wait till something bigger than me and by bigger I mean the Tank because really in small spaces is the only thing to fear. The Hunter is meh the Smoker is only lethal if it gets up off the ground so you can only struggle and get eaten and the Boomer only pukes on you. So how does your team work in this situation?

I usually have to go out and save the dip from being eaten not happy when I end up being beaten to death by a Tank or something else when I have to because everyone else just sits there.

Usually whenever I play as a team it gets all tactical... Like we'll organize who takes what weapon, strategically handing out pills and med-kits, making sure we all have 2 molotovs and 2 pipebombs... We get into it :D

We play like Allied does ( we as in my WoW guild), we are all fairly adept at the game now, so just random everyone and get really into it. For everyone that complains about people sucking just get 8 dedicated people, set it to Death Toll (the map is oh so brutal) and have fun!

For some reason, I'm the only one who takes a auto shotgun to the finale, and I usually end up dealing the most damage to the tanks/witches, but killing the least infected.

When I'm playing it's usually a rush-fest, up until the finale's, where we camp near the minigun and the other three defend the minigunner. It works, until 3 human hunters climb up at the same time as a tank. miraculously we survived that, then a boomer caused our utter demise...

I usually stay with an assault rifle since its versatile - its pretty accurate at a reasonable range, and can lay down rapid fire in close quarters.

Of course, you could always pistol it... :D

4 guys with auto shotguns with pistols for anything we can't reach. Must of us have crap for aim, so the machingunners run out of bullets....cause we suck. And yet it's still fun.

With pick up groups the odds are good you are gonna get a dip on your team. If you get two....quit and find another server. 3 does make it more difficult but with viligance you can pull through. Just make sure you dont plant yourself in a dead end. Dead ends are fine with hunters and smokers, but a tank comes along and you are all toast.

I always try to play with friends, but if I can't then I might just go for the ride in a pick up game. With friends, we just do our thing, which is usually close to speed running, but a bit more thorough. In a PUG, if there is a bum rusher, I say "fuck it" and bum rush with him.

Well, I have a couple of tactics that I usually use as a survivor. First, I try to keep moving. If we waste time and sit back all that's going to happen is more zombies will spawn and we'll have more to worry about. Keep moving forward and things will be much easier. Second, close doors behind you. I know that sounds trivial but it really helps. It slows the infected down and keeps them from sneaking up on you. You know when a hunter is on the other side of the door when it starts breaking down, so when that happens just shoot out the door and try to kill it. Third, know when to go back for people and when to just leave them. If somebody set off the car alarm and has a hunter on them outside it may be best to just leave them. If you go out there to help them all that's going to happen is you'll get grabbed by a smoker, vomited on by a boomer, or both. Also, when running for the rescue vehicle, going back for an incapacitated teammate will do nothing but get you both killed. Leave him to his fate.

Now, as the infected, being successful is heavily dependent on everyone knowing their specific class's role on the team. The Boomer's job is to vomit on the survivors to create a panic, then the hunters and smokers have to capitalize on the panic the boomer has caused. As a boomer, make sure you sneak up on the survivors. If you run at them in the open they'll see you and shoot you before you can do any damage. Also, don't go suicidal every time. You can do much more damage if you vomit, hide, then vomit again. Remember, your group's success is heavily dependent on you. Don't disappoint. As a hunter, do not attack the survivors when they are all together in a group. You will just get killed quickly and then when your team actually needs you you'll be waiting to respawn. Also, do not steal kills from smokers. Instead, try to cover the smoker by pouncing on the survivor that comes to rescue the one the smoker has. As a smoker, remember that your job is to pull survivors places that they don't want to go. If the survivors are up high, try to pull them down low. If the fall is great enough that in itself will do damage. Finally, if you are the tank, let your teammates help you. It isn't all about you, so if you see that a hunter has pounced one of the survivors, just leave him alone and try to kill the others. Do not hit the survivor he has pounced, that will just knock him off and free the pinned survivor. Finally, do not try to kill an incapacitated survivor. All that will happen is he will chip away at your health enough so that you will be easily taken out by his teammates. Instead, once a survivor is down, try to incapacitate his friends. Remember, to win you don't have to kill all the survivors, just incapacitate them. I hope this was helpful.

Diamond strategies seem to work well for me. Front point crouches so the others can shoot over them, and uses a shotgun. The middle two also watch the front and have assault rifles. The back point watches behind, uses a shotgun and alerts the middle two when there's a major threat.

Rooster Teeth are awesome. I'd do that if it meant me not dying...

On topic: I've only played Left 4 Dead with one two people on my team and the other two are computers. Just clear out each room, throw molotovs at where the horde is coming or at the witch/tank and shoot.

Trouble with that logic is staying in one place for long just invites more special spawns and hordes. There have been times I let myself get bogged down, and three boomers would spawn. By the time we got moving again most of us were staying alive on pills.

Tatics are easy... just run... the quicker you move through a level you tend to meet less infected. which means overall less damage...

The auto shotty is great against tanks and witches, but is a bit sucks when the horde comes along as the long re-load, the m4 is better overall weapon, but runs out of ammo 2 quick.

basically the only tatic need for that game is, stick together, cover each other and keep moving... simple... and when you get to those "trigger this, horde will come" make sure you bunch up, find an easy place to cover (like a corner or building with easiy to cover entrances) and hold out. The game is relativly easy in terms of game play, I found it really boring very quickly. Mind you the survival mode I think was the most fun!! scouting out good places to hold, who has what weapons, who covers where, setting up the explosives :) and watching all your planing go down the sink about 3 minutes in lol.
