Anyone been keeping up with the comic in anticipation for the new DLC? I have, and it has so far been great. Lots of surprises, especially concerning Bill's character.

I also like this bit of information.
As it turns out, the survivors from both games ARE Carriers. They have been infected, yet they retain their humanity, whilst spreading the plague wherever they go. Zoey, Francis Louis and presumably Bill have all been bitten and survived. The army is getting ready to dispose of them, while the doctor at the base is trying to hide the fact he is also a Carrier, looking for a cure.

I've also found that the comic is a lot more gruesome than the game is. It still keeps Francis' signature humor, but overall it is a lot darker than either game. The carnage bestowed upon the army by the infected is downright vicious.

October 5th, it finishes up with Part 4, launch day for the DLC. And it looks like it will be great.

What does everyone else think of the comic and the upcoming DLC so far?

I never found it quite believable that these 4 people were able to get from Philly to there without, except for Bill, all that much experience or training,
and yet this sizable, trained, and heavily armed military force is just completely destroyed in a few minutes due to a siren.
Other than that, I've loved the comic so far.

My take on it is this.
With the survivors confirmed to being infected, perhaps this mutated their healing abilities. I mean, the Tank can take multiple shotgun blasts to the face and keep coming, perhaps the virus caused the survivors regenerative properties to be enhanced. That can justify how they can muscle their way through dozens strong hordes without being dragged to the ground and mauled to death.

And regarding the military, they'd been cooped up for nearly a month in there, and were in no way prepared to deal with the special infected. Probably the Witch those two guards met was shot at by some of the other soldiers, and it then proceeded to rip them apart.

That may be true, I recall somebody mentioning something along the lines of "You always seem to heal really fast". Anyways, Im sure as hell looking forward to the DLC :D. And the comic has been amazing, been reading each part the day it came out.

I really don't know how I feel about this DLC, I enjoy the comics a lot, but when I played the sacrifice I really was kind of bored/underwhelmed just by the sheer lack of interaction with the old cast. And I was kind of annoying, yes Valve said they would be catering to both L4D and L4D2, but last I checked L4D still got stuff like Crash Course but no one really cared, the servers are deader than a doornail. I don't know why they don't just merge the two games. And honestly that was kind of what I was expecting with the passing. Since it was toting the return of the survivors I was like oh shit maybe we can finally play as the old survivors in the new campaigns or play the old levels without having to boot up the original game.
But no it was a short campaign, with an annoying as hell finale.
Sure the mutations that were added were cool but I got tired after a couple of them, and some of them were just meh, like Sole Survivor... what was the point of that, run through a level alone with just special infected around...zzz

I avidly read the Team Fortress 2 comics, as they are the pure definition of awesome, but I've never heard of the L4D comics. I'll take a look in a second.

I think that Valve is planning to merge Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 into a single game. L4D1 is getting melee weapons and new special infected, while L4D 2 is also getting The Sacrifice as well as the No Mercy Campaign.

Hopefully they fully merge them one day, it still sounds like in this update both will still require you to boot them up separately, why don't they just let you search for games if you own both?

I also want my dream team of Ellis, Louis, Francis, and Nick on the same damn map!

\well, they are both running off of the same version of the Source Engine, so I think cross gaming compatibility is a distinct possibility.
