Zombie dinosaurs.

Since they seem to have an essence of plot in the second installment, they could expand on this. The zombies are the side effect of government/corporate backed pharmisutical project,(cliche alert) but, as a cheeky aside to the gene splicing. They create dinosaurs, for the sheer, "lets see if we can" factor! The dinosaurs are genetically unstable and have limited lifespans, the zombie virus re animates their corpses and boom. Zombie apocolypse plus Dinosaurs.

Well maybe not L4D style.
Instead of trying to survive....how about, 4 player co-op DINOSAUR HUNTING?

You would have to work together to say: capture/kill a T-rex, equipping your team specificly for that job, so you wouldn't wan't to run into a pack of Raptor's (or whatever) while hunting something else.

Taking out a T-rex or something else big in open territory would require special tools and coordinated attacks.
While taking out a pack of raptors in the woods would have your team moving back-to-back to avoid being pounced, weilding shortrange weapons because of the trees.

Then there's nocturnal prey. Cave dwelling prey......

I think it could be great. Though it would have to be less hectic then L4D, less dino's that take more coordinated effort to take-down.
Isn't that just monster hunter though..?

(A modern day version of monster hunter would be awesome though! :D)

So...beautiful...

Seriously, would anything be worse with dinosaurs?
No. No, it would not.
I reckon that a few of those immersion horror games like the silent hill series would suffer a bit if you were being chased around by dinosaurs...

back too the origional topic though: it would be hard to pull off but it could be done, send waves and waves of tiny dinosaurs at you then throw in a few flying dinosaurs for hunters (they are the only ones I trust to get the hunter's jump right by swooping out of no where) and an allosaurus for a tank (anyone who thinks a t-rex is a good idea can leave, im bored of everyone thinking it was the best thing in the dinosaur universe, it was an overly big, dum scavanger with shrunken front arms to small to do anything)

It would be awesome, but really hard to integrate properly. any dinosaurs were either defenseless and relied on numbers, or exponentially tougher than us. Do you really think you'd be able to shiv a velociraptor like Turok? nu-uh.

Anything constructive to add? Or perhaps develop on your reasoning? Come on, this is a forum, we're all about the discussion here.

No. It'd kind of defy what the game is about: Zombies.

However, it'd be interesting to see how a Left 4 Dead style game would fare with dinosaur opponents. You're pretty much spoilt for choice in terms of enemy variation.

Why not? You can shiv a German Shepard, they're really no worse.
You're forgetting the strength and speed of the velociraptor compared to a german shepherd. you can stop a dog just by holding back it's head, because those paws won't do an awful lot to you. now a velociraptor?

oh wait, I'm getting confuddled here, mixing the spielberg raptor with the miniature real thing. My mistake.

Engine + dinosaurs = average
Left4Dead + dinosaurs = why? Oh god! Why? What have i done to deserve something so bad?
There are no good dinosaur games ever made, why would L4D be good with them? They would just replace the skins and it would be the same thing with week dino's instead of weak crack addicts.

I wonder how it'd work, what would be the 'main' dinosaurs, and the 'special' dinosaurs. It's hard to categorise D:
I suppose Raptors could be hunters, Tyrannosaurus could be tank, pterodactyls could be smokers (except instead of grabbing you with a tongue they get you in their claws and fly away...
Dinosaur Nerd Point 1: Pterodactyls were not Dinosaurs. They were Pterosaurs, which was part of the Archosaur group which included Dinosaurs & Crocdillians.

No....Just no...It wouldn't be Left 4 Dead anymore. It would be a Co-op version of Turok.

Not to mention the game would fucking hard as hell. I mean a T-Rex for a tank? There the size of a small building! How are you suppose to run from them when they just need to take 2 steps to catch you?
Grammar Whore Point 1: They're not there.

Dinosaur Nerd Point 2: No Theropod, let alone Tyrannosaurus, was as big as a small building. The largest, Giganotosaurus, was 15 metres long. Not as big as a building.
Ah, my fellow Nerdasaurus*, you are a man after my own heart.

I just ate dinosaur shaped chicken nuggets, they were on sale vs actual nuggets. They were awesomely delicious.

Sorry to rain on your parade, but dinosaurs really aren't all that awesome.

What you think = Giant reptile hunters. Coloured green, brown, red.

Reality = Giant flamboyent bird scavengers. Coloured pink and yellow.

So, more like a Chocobo than anything else. Laaaaaaaame.

Also, I had no idea that Pararaptor was such a dino-nerd!
Well the T-rex has so far still proven to be a giant king lizard as have many of the other theropods and large herbivores like Triceratops and the Sauropods, those are still reptiles. Also raptors were really a bit of both, witrh reptilian teeth and claws but bird like body structure, however I must agree with you that when modern science proved that the majority of raptors had feathers.... all the previously concieved coolness just vanished. Now it looks like big bird from seasame street or just a Spielberg raptor in drag.
So once again Science has found a way to make an awesome thing lame, sad really.

Except of course that the bird is huge, has teeth and is covered in scales(some had feathers, I know). Plus, birds are mostly not pink and yellow, but brown and black. Why would a dinosaur resemble a parrot? And a couple of million years ago there were also pretty bad-ass birds around(three metre tall with a huge beak and claws instead of wings).

Reckon it'd be good?
That's easy...

Dilophosaurus = Spitter
Pachyacephalasaurus = Charger
Utah Raptor (Big cousin of the Veloci variety) = Hunter
Small, Flightless Pterodactyl = Jockey
Lengthytonguesaur = Smoker
Gigantic, Prehistoric, Puss-filled Stink Beetle = Boomer
and, I don't know, Stegasaurus = Tank, or, you know what would be better? An Ankylasaur. Looks like an armadillo with a club for a tail.

I'm thinking dinosaurs vs. humans, but it doesn't really make sense that when a dinosaur bites you you become a dinosaur... you usually just become dinner... or dead. Or both.

As for the normal dinosaurs? I don't know... ummm Galimimus. Those things are about as annoying as normal infected from L4D2 anyway.

T-Rex would be the insta win button... completely unbalanced.
