Left 4 dead

Valve over the years have brought out game, after game, after game that has captured the minds and souls of many nerds around the world and there latest release to there long line of epic games is Left 4 dead a first person zombie game involving little to no storyline and little to none chooses of weapons and playable charters. Valve has gone for the ?if it moves, kill it? approach to combat. And you know what? That?s ok. That?s what made the FPS gene what it is today. But valve aren?t stupid and they know that in today?s horrible greedy gaming market you need a gimmick. And this gimmick is CO-OP.co-op in my eyes has always been you and some other npc/new player twat running around killing all the bad guys not helping each other in the slightest and in fact arguing over who gets the heath packs and ammo. Not with left 4 dead,Oh no, left 4 dead is more help each other OR DIE.

Combat

?Reloading! pills here! Reloading! TANK!? those or some of the many things the automated talking NPC devise will be screaming again and again. And I can think of a better way to tell you what combats like. It is just bang, bang, bang, reload. You might thing what about the special infected?. yes I know but that doesn?t change much, if you see a hunter shot it, if you see a smoker shot it, if you see a boomer, melee it then shot it, if you see a tank, shot it a lot. And if you see a witch? Send some newbie in to die for you. Combat though is surprisingly fun, all the weapons are well balanced and useable also the zombies don?t all have ragdoll physics, some have scripted deaths with physics added into it. There?s nothing more fun that shoving a zombie ageist a wall pulling out two duel hand guns and shooting it to kingdom come

Story
What story? You?re at point A and you need to be at point B. zombies in way, you figure the rest out. Although to be quite honest this is a bit of a piss take, the writing on the walls all around you was great fun to read at the start. But that runs fast out and not much story is ever told on the walls in the first place. Just that there going to bomb the city and that Chicago ted fears no zombie.

All in all this game is a great game for any valve fan boy and any non-valve fan boy but if you don?t like simple games with simple control schemes then you will hate L4D with all of your MORPG loving heart

I hated the lack of variability. Every single scenario was the same, with a different background to shoot zombies. I think they could have used to make each level have a different breed of zombie, instead of the same 8 or so used throughout the game. I ended up getting bored with this game after a rental, just because I couldn't get over how repetitive it seemed to me. Fun in parts, but as a whole, I didn't enjoy it as much as most people have been praising it.

Okay...where to start?

Well, aside from acceptable spelling and grammar, the review feels like it is missing something. This something is substance. You barely even touch on the multiplayer aspect of the game, you seem very unsure of how you feel about L4D, your structure leaves much to be desired, and I am seriously unsure if English is your Native language.

Honestly, you don't seem to care about writing a good review, so my advice to you is that you either put more time and effort into future reviews, or that you just stop writing them all together.

This is a fairly lacking review, I agree that Left 4 Dead is not the game of the century but this review reads as bias towards negativity (whether or not the game is or isn't).
For one thing you have made the tell-tale mistake of contradiction, just in small amounts but enough to lower the tone a bit. You complain about the the lack of weapons ("little to none weapon choice") but then compliment them ("all the weapons are well balanced"), if the weapons are well-balanced why need more? You can have an AK-47 and a M-16 but in a game like this it is not really gonna make a difference as long as they both blow someones head off.

You perhaps need to expand on why the Co-op in THIS game is good. You start off saying how you don;t like it, then say the you like the co-op in L4D and then don't say anything more about it, which comes across like you refuse to comment on good aspect's the game.

You also Seem to criticize the combat system (after saying its good) by posting remarks about how you see a zombie and shoot. This is NOT a good review of combat but just a remark about pretty much every FPS everywhere. The point IS to point and shoot, so to speak.

To Sum what I said up: Expand more on what you like and don't like about the game, or else it just comes of as a load of B-tching.
Review Rating: 4/10

Apparently, I don't exist due to the fact I create a contradiction in the review.

I'm not a Valve fanboy and I like Left 4 Dead. Oops!

(And I noticed you said "all your MORPG heart." Uh, last time I checked, L4D is pretty much just a zombie FPS that was advertised as a zombie FPS and not a MORPG)

Before you post one of these, it's good to save it as a Word document, and run a check for spelling and grammar. Don't leave it at that, though- proofread as well. Spellcheck will not flag you if you misspell words as other valid words.

Also, it seemed as though you were trying to give a humorous rather than informative review. It seems like you can pull that off, but only if it's well done. For an example of this, check out Baby Tea's Minesweeper review. Not really thorough or informative, but terribly funny and well done.

I'm not saying you should copy him, but it seems like you could use an example, and this one made me laugh.

There isn't supposed to be a nailed down storyline. That's what makes the game fun, all of a sudden there's a zombie Apocalypse and your stuck in a party with three other completely different from you. One thing I would of liked to see in Left 4 Dead, was more of a character relationship development throughout the campaign. But ya, the point is your character doesn't know whats happening, he/she's just trying to survive it. Much like you would do in this event i'm guessing?

The multiplayer aspect is where this game shines and I think it was the main focus of their design. I read their blog over the development cycle, and to me, the end result was the result they were aiming for - not a strong single player game, but a co-op/multiplayer game that can be fun for everyone.

I do believe they are developing a lot more maps and other DLC in the form of chapters. Some of it is even free. At least that's what I read.
