so i want to get L4D but i wanted to make sure my computer can run it alright so i went to a site called systemrequirementslab.com and looked it up. well according to it I pass the minimum on everything but looking at the recommended my CPU failed the inspection, but just barely. i was wondering would i still run L4D smoothly with this?

my CPU is an AMD Athlon (tm) 64 processor 3800+

The initial startup and level loading should take a bit more time, but other than that you should be good to go.

As a loose rule of thumb: if you can run Source engine games (e.g. Half-Life 2, Portal, Team Fortress 2 or The Orange Box) you will be able to run Left 4 Dead.

What crumsondynamics said. If you can run Half Life 2 Episode 2 at a playable level (as in the frame rate isn't so bad you can't see anything right) then Left 4 Dead will run great. It actually runs more smoothly for me than any of the Orange Box games save Portal, and I got my PC back in 2006.

Yeah the CPU and GPU thing of SRTEST.com (same site, different URL) is a little innacurate. It's like "You need a 3.0 GHz CPU" - "You have, a 2.9 Quad Core." "FAILED!"

My PC is probably shittier then yours and I run smooth (albiet at 640x800 with all low graphics)

There's also an option under advanced to add more virtual memory to the game, which should help with any slowdown.
