i want to know how all us left handed have adapted to the keybord.
for me it is
my little finger for all the buttons to the right of R, F and 5. (including those)and V + B
my ring finger for E, D, 3 and 4
my middle finger for S, W and 2
my forefinger for A, Q, 1, tab, caps lock, shift and ctrl
my thumb for Z, X, C and alt
ant last the part just under my little finger and ring finger, don´t know what it is called, for space

maybe I expressed myself unclear i ment how have you adapted. "like" do you play whit your left hand on mouse or right

It's weird for me. I do everything Left Handed, except for video games. I guess I just adapted. I have been playing games since I was 2.

Wouldn't a keyboard work the same way no matter what your handedness? I mean, my left handed friends tend to use a keyboard the same way I do...

Left hand:keyboard, right hand:mouse like the right-handers do.

The mouse just feels wrong in my left hand. And besides, using the mouse requires less fine motor control than using the keyboard - I have no idea why a right-hand-dominated world opted for mouse-on-the-right as standard...

if you have your right hand on the keybord instead of left, you suddenly have a thumb on the wrong side

I have both hands on my keyboard though... I can't type with one hand. Not with any sort of speed anyway...

Edit: Saw the clarification, and yeah, my left-handed friends still do things the same way I do.

Whut he sayd!

I mean, I use the keyboard and mouse exactly the same as my righthanded fiance does.

I aways thought it was like playing the piano - both hands have to move in a certain way, but handedness rarely comes into it...

but when you are playing a game and need to have one hand on the mouse, you are suddenly limited to one hand on the keybord

I'm ambidextrous so I just go with the right hander method. Guess that doesn't really add much to the thread.

And all my left-headed friends play "right hand on mouse, standard WASD".

I'm left-handed, but the way you talk about typing seems crazy. All the other left-handed people I've seen type do it just like right handed people, it doesn't seem to make a difference. I guess it does, and I've just never noticed.

On the other hand (see what I did there?), if you want to complain about how society treats us unfairly and how slight differences in the way we move and how body language conveys us to the right-handed, then I'm ready to complain about how I always got put on the right side of the class and people bitched about my elbow hitting theirs.

I believe that's the worst run on sentence I've ever typed. Or even seen.
Have you seen the American Declaration of Independence?

OT: I just type normally.
