being purely pragmatic, what leftovers? it's 2013 i would hope we can all judge a portion of food by now

although i will admit to having cooked large pieces of lamb and letting them chill in the fridge for sandwedges later
but i wouldn't consider that leftovers as much as being thermally efficient with my food preparation

I'd have to say Pizza or KFC Chicken. Putting a piece of Pizza or KFC Chicken in the microwave and then enjoying it (After properly cooled of course) Is one of the most satisfying things ever.

Chili and stew are both quite good the second day. I think it's stew, especially, which actually gets better the second time 'round.
If the chili is made right, it's better the day after it's been made and then at its peak the night after it was finished cooking. After that point it starts slipping down again.

Or at least, that's been my personal experiences with chili.

I love a good leftover pizza too. Either cold or reheated in the oven.

It's all a matter of technicalities (and you gotta love the minutia). Any food left for later consumption after a portion has been eaten is a "leftover". Actually, preparing food in batches for future dining is a good idea. Saves in both cost and time.

OT: A good crock-pot based stew. Make a huge amount and whittle away at it over the course of a week. Not only does it retain its wonderful nature, proper storage means it never falls in quality.

And, just to be "that guy", cold pizza is an affront unto civilization and god. If it isn't eaten while still hot the first-time around, it should be dumped. Preferably in a certified toxic-waste suitable receptacle.

Chinese food is the best the next day, and even cold.
I would agree with you with only the exception of rice. Rice is a ***** to reheat if you don't have a microwave. Which I do not. :/
I don't reheat the rice, and why would you?

It's super tasty with the cold sauce that's already on the rice, so it's all super gooey. :D
Ugh... I have no idea what rice you've been eating, but I've found that cold rice is always stale! D:

I guess I'm just not picky when it comes to leftovers, and they really don't taste stale to me. :/

White rice isn't bad cold, and sometimes brown or fried rice is still rather yummy cold. :D

indeed,
you can experience a meal with several different variations and sides if you plan ahead well enough
i personally don't cook stews, mostly because i don't have the patience or time to add the ingredients in proper
cooking order and stir it often enough to prevent the bottom overcooking, i have however had some wonderfully
prepared stews made by other people or in restaurants i'm just no good at it

i also doubt the actual efficiency of stews, and slow cooking in general because you're wasting a hell of allot of cooking heat over time and it's less focused on the food, compared to say frying a steak in 4-5 mins or baking a joint under the grill in 20 mins you don't end up heating up the whole room just the pan and the food, the heat doesn't have time to escape

but i guess that's just me being a pedant for no reason

also, pizza..
i stopped eating it a couple years ago it gets too oily for my liking so you can be 'that guy' all you like all i'll do
is agree.

Baked potatoes and roast beef leftovers make incredible additions to grilled cheese sandwiches.

Pretty much any meat. Ham, beef, turkey, chicken... whatever. It happens every Sunday at my house. We have a roast dinner, some meat gets left over and BAM! Instant awesome leftovers.

Leftover chinese and curries are pretty nice as well. Pizza's decent, but it can be a bit hit-and-miss for me. Got to make sure you're buying a good quality pizza for it work well as leftovers.

My favorite meal in the world is leftover macaroni & tomatoes with hamburger.
Fried in a pan, not the microwave. I don't even own a microwave.
Sprinkle a little bit of cheese on top.
Then blend it all in to a big shake, and chug.

I'm not sure about the best (fuck it, I am; it's sausages), but the worst is kebab. They always look so tasty in the morning, but they lie.

Sausages out of the fridge are the best leftover food ever. There's no contest here, you filthy blasphemers.

Pizza... The only food designed for being eaten warm, but that tastes almost better when cold.

Beef. I actually don't much care for beef freshly cooked. Let it cool down and dry out for a day and I'll happily munch away, so long as it's thin-cut. Steaks aren't my thing.

A nice steak.
When cold it becomes great finger-food.
With bread it becomes a steak sandwich.
Oh ho ho! This guy knows what he's talking about! Now, you could always reheat it and add steak sauce to make that sandwich even better! 8D
Steak sauce is only for bad steak!
Meatloaf is also quite amazing as leftovers.
When you reheat it, it gets the fat from the bacon slices on top to dribble through it, keeping everything moist.

A big, hearty potof homemade Zuppa Toscana (extra spicy). Just gotta take it outta the fridge, throw it on the stove, and sink into a few steamy bowls of bliss.

I love left-over bacon
There is no such thing as left over bacon... or too many olives.

The best is cold haggis and gravy.
Left-Over bacon is a very rare thing but when it's refrigerated and eaten cold it's better than ice cream.
