From the threat of nuclear fire, I emerged,
from the risk of civilization's annihilation, I saw,
from the days of death and war, I envisioned.

The end of all conflict approaches,
the time of a new enlightenment comes,
a new age of prosperity in within man's grasp.

I will not allow this.

It is time for the dominoes to fall,
it is time for my plan to commence,
it is time for the world to see me.

The final war shall soon occur,
not between nations, however,
but between myself and a select few.

So, I return to the Escapist RP scene with an ambitious idea and a phenomenal amount of motivation; with Legacy. Legacy is essentially a combination of three of my greatest loves in RP: Interesting characters, a thrilling situation, and politics, economics, and philosophy galore.

Legacy is an international thriller set in the aftermath of a devastating bombing of the Davos Economic Forum. The characters are part of a handful of survivors of the bombing. With no leads on the culprit, and a huge amount of the planet's business leaders, influential politicians, thinkers, and humanitarians dead, the world is plunged into a state of suspicion, chaos, and confusion. Various nuclear stockpiles are opened up to whatever nefarious party, fundamentalism truly rears it's head, and the cooperation and order between Western Nations shatters.

The characters are thrust into the position of spearheading the resolution of these, and many more issues, while simultaneously avenging their colleagues; all culminating in them discovering a truth that will tear the world as we know it apart. This RP is going to focus almost solely on plot and character development.

1. Consistently good grammar and spelling are mandatory.
2. Your character must not have been in the military at any point, unless you have my authorization.
3. You must not create or control NPCs without my command or consent.
4. You must post at least once every three days, unless you've my leave to do otherwise.
5. The obvious thing; no trench-coating, godmodding, or Mary-Sue-Ing.
6. Make every post at least one-hundred words long; no need for walls of text, but try to add some detail and depth to posts.

Name:

Gender: (We need estrogen in this RP, that means I'm going to be more inclined to accept female characters.)

Age: (I'd recommend making your character 35+, the majority of attendees at the World Economic Forum are either middle-aged or old.)

Skin Colour:

Hair Colour:

Eye Colour:

Height: (Let's make this believable, eh?)

Other physical characteristics:

Nation of Origin: (I'm hoping people will be a bit more imaginative than just putting the US, Canada, or the UK down. This is an international summit, and therefore an international attendance base.)

Personality: (Please try to put up a least one believable flaw.)

Occupation: (It will come under the umbrella of politics, economics, humanitarianism, business, or academia.)

Biography: (Try to avoid stereotypical over-the-top backgrounds, I'm not saying make your character dull, but I don't want every character to be an orphan or a former begger-turned-celebrity.)
Name: Matthew Sutton

Gender: Male

Age: 42

Skin Colour: White

Hair Colour: Brown

Eye Colour: Blue

Height: 5?11?

Other physical characteristics: Clean cut, small scar on forehead.

Nation of Origin: England, United Kingdom.

Personality: Sutton has an inflated ego, his intelligence and past accomplishments given him a sense of self-importance and arrogance. Accompanying his arrogance comes several skills which often assist with leadership; his assertiveness, confidence, and foresight gained through his years as an aid worker allow him to lead many a group with ease. He possesses misogynistic tendencies, due to the heartbreak experienced after his ex-wife?s affair and subsequent divorce. Despite all of this he does possess many an altruistic tendency, and is documented to give much of his income to assisting those in need.

Occupation: Member of Parliament for Fylde, and Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for International Development.

Biography: Born to a middle-class family in Kirkham, Lancashire, Matthew Sutton grew up in a relatively dull and peaceful manner, going to the local private school, where he developed his interests in politics, economics, and humanitarianism. Once passing his schooling with flying colours, Sutton studied Politics, Philosophy, and Economics at the University of Warwick. After graduating with First Class Honours he joined the Department of International Development and spent the majority of the next decade as an aid worker.

During his time in the Third World, Sutton fell for fellow aid worker Catherine Lewis. After returning to England, the two married; after discovering Catherine was unable to have children, the couple began to focus on their careers. Sutton proceeded to begin his political career, and began working for the Conservative party in the eighties as a Foreign Affairs advisor and generally advancing up the ranks, reaching the candidate list, and eventually winning the position of MP in his home constituency of Fylde during the 1997 general election.

His relationship with his wife gradually deteriorated due to the pressure of their careers, culminating in his stumbling in on her sleeping with another man in the summer of 2004. He almost immediately divorced her, and since then has shown misogynistic and cynical tendencies. After the supposed victory for the Conservative party in May 2010 Election, Sutton was appointed the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for International Development.
Name: Douglas Abekenwie
Gender: Male
Age: 46

Skin Colour: Brown
Hair Colour: Black, with streaks of grey
Eye Colour: Grey-green

Height: 5'10"

Other physical characteristics:

Nation of Origin: South Africa

Personality: A man of strong opinions and a powerful voice, Douglas has never been afraid to hide what he believes to be the right course. His religion is as often a tool as a support, and his critics have questioned ho strong his faith truly is, though never to his face, for Douglas is possessed of a sharp wit and encyclopedic knowledge that makes him a fearsome foe in any debate.
However important his religion truly is to him, Douglas' upbringing in and fight against the apartheid has made him a strong, if not radical advocate for racial equality, and he claims that many of the worlds problems come from a combination of the power being in the wrong hands and the lack of religion in the modern world.
As a bishop of the Zion Christian Church, he preaches peace, respect and humility, and is believed to be able to perform faith healings

Occupation: Bishop of the Zion Christian Church

Biography: Born in 1965, Douglas brought up with the apartheid as the only way of life he ever knew. He was, however, instilled with a need to fight against it by his father and mother, both of whom were activists. Knowing that, as a Black, it would be hard for Douglas to gain a good education, they put him forward at an early age to be apprentice into the church, where he both lived and learned well.

Growing up with an educated viewpoint and a position relatively safe from government censorship and persecution, Douglas was able first to see the nature of, then begin to help the fight against the apartheid, and in 1994, after long negations, Nelson Mandela won the first truly open elections for almost 50 years. Douglas was 34 at the time, and was congratulated for his part, and two years later made a bishop. Well recognized for his skills in diplomacy and negotiation, he has been sent to the World Economic Summit to represent the Zion Church's interests and opinions.
Name:Daisy Mae Summers

Gender: Female

Age: 27

Skin Colour: White

Hair Colour: Blonde

Eye Colour: Blue

Height: 5'7

Other physical characteristics: Daisy is in every way a traditional 'southern belle'. She has fair skin, slight freckles, rosy cheeks and shoulder length blonde hair. Her teeth are straight and are usually showing because Daisy rarely isn't wearing a smile, opting to always appear welcoming and friendly. Skirts and dresses take up most of her wardrobe as she was raised traditionally to dress like a woman should, when the weather gets warm she will even wear a large sun hat.

Nation of Origin: Southern United States of America

Personality: Daisy is a genuinely sweet person, she tries to be friendly even in stressful or tense situations. Having a traditional and almost storybook upbringing makes her not much of a businesswoman. Constantly having her fathers advisers whispering in her ear regarding business decisions she tries as hard as she can to keep up with the business lingo. Despite the men constantly in her ear she does have her own ideas, she wants to change the face of Summers medical and make it a company known world wide for improving mankind and helping the less fortunate.

Occupation: Heir to the Summers Medical company.

Biography: Daisy's story truly starts with her father, growing up as the son of two simple farmers Bill Summers story is truly that of a self made man. He decided one day that he wanted to be more than just a simple farmer, he wanted to be someone important and that's exactly what he did. He became friends with a up and coming doctor named Richard Day, combining the friends medical knowledge with Bill's cut-throat business tactics the Summers Day Medical quickly became a huge success. The store had become so successful that Bill wanted to turn Summers Day Medical into a large national chain, Richard however had drastically different ideas, he felt their time was better spent not on getting as much money as possible but rather focusing time and money on research and improving medical technology. Knowing Richard would differ on the future of the company Bill had a trick up his sleeve, a few years after the business started Richard passed testing on a product and sent it right to the market, a few people died as a result and the product was quickly pulled. The file however was kept hidden by Bill, at the time he told Richard it was to protect his image but Bill knew he would need something to hold over this almost 'saint' of a man in a time of disagreement, and he was exactly right. In the end Richard had no choice but to hand the company over to Bill, it was either that or potentially ruin his entire career. The story from then on out is pretty straightforward, Bill ruthlessly expanded his company into an international chain, undercutting the 'good guys' and making billions in the process he is known worldwide for his cut-throat business tactics which are underhanded and almost evil yet wildly successful. Fairly later in his life at around 40 Bill met a beautiful woman and promptly married her and had a child. Meeting an even more beautiful woman 6 months after the birth Bill divorced her and moved on with his life this time however opting not not have a child and live carefree with a young attractive woman.

This is where Daisy's actual part of the story begins, her mother was distraught and worried about how she was going to raise a child all on her own with little or no support from the much older man she had married. Not knowing what to do she left her child with her mother and ran off, due to a life full of hidden depression problems she was never seen again, suspected of committing suicide. At this point Daisy's grandmother had no choice but to raise the baby and she did it the only way she knew how, the traditional southern way. Daisy started life wearing dresses and acting like a lady, spending time at classy outings with her grandmother Daisy always felt the place for her was at a social gathering wearing a dress and acting proper. Daisy was taught by her grandmother that the only place for a good woman was in the kitchen of a good man and grew up thinking that very thing, she did alright in school but never really cared to try hard believing that as long as she could cook and clean she would be happy. Her relationships never worked out however, perhaps she was always too eager to take the relationships to more serious levels, whatever the case Daisy has never had a long lasting relationship and eventually had to change her lifestyle and get a real job. At around 26 Daisy found out who her father was, having never cared to find out who he was prior to that Daisy was shocked to learn that she was the sole heir to the Summers company. The reason she found out was because Bill was dying, he knew death was upon him and wanted to see his daughter at least once more before he died, unfortunately his wish did not come true but Daisy had no choice but to leave her home and run the company, drastically changing the way she lived her life and looked at life itself.

By 1990 David had risen to the to the top of the paper he was working on and was brought in as a co-founder of the Italian Economist, called Economista. After 9 years of being the Head Journalist on Economista, he was sued for libel against a corporation that he had unknowingly lied about in a major article of his, leaving him in massive debt. Worried that his job might be in jeprody, he was suprised when it was announced he had been sumbited for a postion on the NATO Parliamentary Assembly. From this point onwards, grimmer means grammar.

And the edit key is now Jesus Christ.

In-depth knowledge isn't mandatory, and anything you need to know will be added to the OP under a 'Concepts, terms, and history' area, and people can PM me in the RP, if they need any help. The RP isn't all going to be a meeting inside a room where we have a 200 page discussion on various issues; it's going to be a vast thriller where all the characters are confronted with difficult and vast decisions, of which they'll need to use their knowledge to navigate through.

Although it isn't mandatory, a basic knowledge of political systems, economics, international relations, common issues, and modern world history would help vastly in helping the players get into the RP.

I would like to know some more history before I write up a sheet. Is it an alt. universe, or is it exactly the same?

In essence?

Exactly the same as our universe; all the leaders and personalities of real-life carry over, as do nations, alliances, and such.

Of course, it's not going to be exactly the same, I expect the RP to generate several corporations, figures, and people who don't exist in real-life, but in the bigger picture, everything is exactly the same.

Earth as it is now is a perfect place to start the RP.

Hmm, this seems very interesting, at the least very different from most of the RP's I've tried so far. However as it stands I've already got three RP's and schools going to re-start for me very soon, so I'm going to have to think about whether or not I really want to do this. If I could ask, what will the players be doing in specific? I know it won't be fighting non-stop but will it be like negotiations and investigations?

Around that, yes.

I don't want to elaborate to much, but the players are put on a UN disaster committee, as both a propaganda move, and a way to have people that may be dedicated to the job. They travel to various areas around the world, primarily to stop the brewing issues and conflicts in the areas. Along the way, the evidence to who was responsible for the bombing and subsequent murder of their friends and colleagues begins to mount.

Oh, and there'll be press conferences and lectures on what they need to do galore. And don't forget the romantic subplots I'll try to chuck in- Having a fetish for women in global affairs is mandatory to this RP! xD

So you said business in the list of occupations, what exactly would a businessperson have to do while all the politicians are arguing?

The matters that would be handled by the characters aren't just political, there'll be a vast range of socio-economic issues to handle. With most of the heads of global business dead, the business-based-characters will have a major role to play in trying to keep the global economy in a somewhat stable shape.

That, and workers for big corporations and businesses usually know just as much about politics as the politicians will; they'll be able to provide their voices to potential solutions, crisises, and just about all major events with the same relative ease as any politician.

Story-wise, I'm planning the RP so that the group will have no reason to split up or such, all of them need to work together due to the fact the resources the group will have will be the only way to find out who attacked the summit, along with the idea that I like the thought of the group functioning as a jigsaw, of sorts. Everyone has a role to play.

I know I'm coming off as desperate with yet another bump... Actually, that is the case.

I know that this won't be an RP for the masses, but I do believe there will be people on the Escapist who'd like to play this sort of thing; I'm bumping this to try to attract them.

I know I'm still a whore, though.

Could I be a fairly young heir to a very large company? She won't know too much about the politics but she wont be completely ignorant either. I'll make her quite intelligent and well educated just not too well versed on politics. Her father however had a huge part in all the politics but his recent death left his only child the person to lead the company.

Wow! I want in!
[sup]I promise not to awol...[/sup]

No time to write now, but my current idea consists of Douglas Abekenwie, a South African bishop of radical views
