I want to find a ROM for super mario 64, in as far as I know this is legal as I already own a copy of the game (still have it too). If it is illegal for me to search for a rom, please tell me, and if possible, could anyone tell me a place to get one.
oh, and I wasn't quite sure if this was off topic (since its technical) or gaming (as its technical about a game)

ROMs are an iffy topic, legalities swing from region to region, country to country.

Seriously companies are more worried about people pirating modern games.

I doubt any of them would waste money trying to prosecute a guy who downloaded one frigging rom of an ancient game that he owns already anyway.

ROMs are so old nobody really cares. However, piracy of modern games is most certainly stealing.

So presumably no one is going to tell me where I could find one.
Probably not, but half the fun is in the search. You never know what you'll uncover during situations like this.
