I'm gonna go and point out Dissidia here. That's a PSP exclsive... Scribblenaughts which could have had a wii port since the remote can be used like an oversized pen. They exist. The Wii doesn't get enough respect because it's library sucks, much like the gamecube. The hardware issues have pretty much been sorted thanks to the plus (they're now 100% integrated into new remotes too) The problem is, like the Move and Kinect, they don't know who's got the hardware or not, but if it's developed for the 1-1 motion of the plus, then why is it such a problem?
Don't get me wrong, I'm a Wii owner, yes (excuse me for only being able to afford only one console) but we've gotten a lot of neglect. Most of the time I'm sitting on the sidelines while most people are arguing about the degrees of awesomeness for 360 and PS3 exclusives so SHUSH!!
Nope, no shushing here. I wasn't implying that the handhelds were lacking in good JRPGS. Though I wouldn't really put Dissidia in there as a great example for the PSP.. I'd put Crisis Core, Valkaria Chronicles 2, Clandun, the re-releases of the Personas and the availability of FF 7, 8, and 9 as well as Wild Arms in the PSN store as better examples of available PSP-playable JRPGS. And that's not even touching the stacks of Dragon Quest and FF remakes on the DS for the other side.
With the advent of the Move and the Kinect, making a Wii exclusive is really giving yourself the short end of the stick... even when you factor in the improved wiimote sensors. and lower entry level price point.
But my original point really had nothing to do with comparing motion controls. It was based on console graphic and processing ability. The Wii's limit of HD (technically not HD, but EDTV) ability stops at 480p which when stretched to the almost 4x sized 720p screens of your entry level HDTVs or even approching the 9x real estate of a 1080p... it's just not going to look good.
Anyway, I'm rambling...
As I said originally.. if you are going to lock yourself into one console, you should pick the one that has the tech that best suits your game design. As an owner of all three of the usual suspects... there's just not much a Wii is going to do for your game. If you are Wii-exclusive, it seems that you are looking for your game to do something for the Wii.
Like using a popular license you own to drum up customers through icon loyalty.. I'm looking at YOU, Mario, Samus and Link!
Now.. having said all that. I DO like my Wii. It's just not the console I want to use for what I hope is an epic, dozens of hours long adventure that I can't put down even though I've made dents in the wall throwing the controller in frustration. (Ahhh, FF1 memories)
