Will this be free when the mythic comes out as the heroic was?

Possibly, but as there's not an official release date for the Mythic pack outside of the Halo Wars pack, you might still be waiting a while. Also, if they wait for all of the Mythic maps it will be longer, because only the first 3 are coming out with Halo Wars.

I expect it will be free on September,30,2009 which "coincidentally" is the launch date of Halo:ODST.
