We all know them, people of great strength who have done things that no other person has ever accomplished or will ever accomplish. I was watching "The Right Stuff" (great movie if you haven't seen it) and i started to think, there isn't really any more people like that, espicially Chuck Yeager. And now it makes me wonder, do we really have any modern legends, or has the time of legends forever passed on?

naww there's plenty of legends about.Maybe just not noticed for what they do because of the talentless lot hogging the limelight. Like Katie Price, Michael Bay etc...

Not only has the time of legends passed. But the time when great quotes were forged daily is also past.

I think... one of the last great quotes was Kennedy's moon speech.

Now all we have is...

George W. "mission accomplished" Bush.
and...
Barrack "change in your pocket" Obama.

Not exactly inspiring words.

In 30 years people will say that legends are no more and in the days when that black dude which name they won't remember properly was the time for legends...

Bill Hicks. Comedic genius lauded by his peers and either hated or loved by the audience. He was a leftie, no doubt about that, and alot of his material was highly critical of the US foreign policies and the way that the people was controlled by the state and the media. He died of cancer 32 years old. His career was just about to take of.

He is my favourite comedian and what he said back then still rings true today.

Legendary because: His wit and the aforementioned reasons. One of the best political comedians. Im certain that George Carlins later material was largely inspired by that of Hicks. Don't quote me on that though.

Well I'm sure some legendary stuff is going on in other parts of the world that are still wartorn and devastated, where acts of bravery/heroism etc. can still happen.

The western world is a bit too dull for legends at the moment.
