I can see what Burton means and Disney aren't the best games designers. Honestly I don't think it's lawsuit material but if you're going to go and make something of a similar experience, ya need to try to make it look different. I mean at any point did the Disney developers stop and say "Hey, do you think it looks anything like LBP or a Lego game?" because it does, it really does. I'm all for taking one game aspect, combining with another and improving the games thereafter but 1) the games need to be improved disney and 2) you need to try and make it look a lot different. LBP shape is pretty much here still only in fabulous blue sooo...sort it out...

"I'm not saying we invented the stuff, but it's an identical formula."

So it's okay for his company to rip stuff off, but not if Disney does it. Maybe he should be apologizing to Nintendo, rather than ripping on Disney.

Not that I like any of those companies-- trying to rip kids off is a bad thing in my book.
As someone who's played the one of the Lego games, they do not rip kids off. There is an insane amount of content in the games that can only be gotten through 2 play through at minimum.
I was more referring to the business case of Lego, Disney and Nintendo. Their target groups are (primarily) kids, through the wallet of their parents of course. The idea is to make the kids brand-aware to the point where they refuse to get anything else, and cry in the store till they get what they want. I'm not at all a fan of the unabashed "want" marketing directed at children in our modern times. As a child, escpecially the younger ages targeted by these companies, you have no defenses against the sociopsychological warfare, more or less, that these companies spend billions on.

Seven year olds are very brand aware, these days, which I find appalling. Talk about indoctrination; I'd be interested in seeing studies investigating exposure to aggressive marketing at a young age and if that holds any bearing on impulsive purchases and credit defaults later in life. I'm not saying there is a connection, but I would not at all be surprised if there is. In particular the current generation of children have access to an information-flow that has never existed before, the consequences of which we can only imagine since just that; it has never existed before.

I would have thought the guys who made LBP would be the ones to complain. I mean, damn, those are basically sackboys.

Anywho, I doubt this will sell more than the titles that they are ripping off.

Again the idea of swapping costumes to gain new abilities was not made by you, why hell FF3 had that idea incorporated ages ago (Before you say but that's different, is it really?). Does the game look bad, maybe but seriously stop whining.

True, it reminds me of LBP and even a bit of ModNation Racers. And sure, they might have borrowed the idea from there. But if we're gonna start analyzing games with stuff like "Where did they rip this from?", then 90% of the games out there are indeed a rip off of something else. Some are more obvious than others.

But if anything, it was inspired by LPB and they took the idea one step further. It seems the costumes give you different abilities here. And sorry but I don't see how this is a rip off of Lego Universe or whatever. Legos are all about building and destroying. I don't think you can do that with these Disney characters. So like someone said, if anything, the producers of LBP should be complaining, not this guy.

True, hard to see where the comparisons to the Lego games cane be found in this trailer. Also, who's to say the donning of different costumes means they're ripping off LBP? In fact, if the wearing of different costumes grants different abilities, I'm going to say that the game is actually ripping off Dynamite Headdy! For shame!

Also, fun trailer. If I was a kid, I'd want to play this game now. :)

despite the blue guy in a girls outfit it still looked male.... it bares a strong resemblance to our little sack people but they don't use weapons. Speaking of which did those monsters run from them because they are wielding guitars? Keys, guitars, paintbrushes, Are traditional weapons illegal?

A great man once said "Everything is a clone of a copy of something else." Granted he said that about three hours ago, but it's timeless wisdom none the less.

EDIT: Also, all artist draw inspiration from the world around. Some call it stealing, others call it creative liberty.
