Anybody remember the old LEGO games, back when they were basically spin-offs of their products and marketing for lines of toys?

I ask because I recently went back and played some of my old LEGO games, and found that I still really enjoyed them.

So what about you, Escapists. Did you ever play LEGO games, and if so, what were your favorites?

Some of mine are:

LEGO Creators: Knight's Kingdom
Rock Raiders
LEGO Racers (I lost a good portion of my childhood to that game)
LEGO Island (I found out that there's a ton of "grown-up" humor in that game)
LEGOLAND

I remember a lot of these, the LEGO Island series blew me away as a kid, and Rock Raiders frustrated the hell out of me back on my PS1, good memories :)

Lego rock raiders was insanely difficult, I never even managed to complete a third of that game.

Lego Racers 2 was pretty fun with its free roam mechanics, but the cars handled like shit, a lot of frustration was caused by this.

Lego Racers was better in most ways, the maps had more personality, there were cool shortcuts and the power ups were awesome, even if they were a bit broken.

Lego Star Wars was really fun, especially with all the Easter Eggs.

Yeah, lego games are usually of an above average quality, it really surprising honestly.

Man, I had forgotten about Backlot! I wonder if it's still up on their site...

Seriously, it helped inspire me to do what I do now.

Holy cow I forgot Lego Island even existed. My nostalgia hurts I wish I still had it.

I've got LEGO Star Wars the Complete Series and I find it pretty fun. I find that I can only play so much of it before I get a huge headache though, not sure why.

Oh man, the nostalgia you just gave me. I've played all of the games on the list, especially Racers and Raiders. Oh man.

I played all the older Lego games but don't remember them much.

I have yet to play Lego Batman but I bet it's pretty awesome.

I managed to pick up a whole pile of them on sale once. I've got LEGOLAND, LEGO Island 1 and 2, LEGO Racers 2, LEGO Creator... So many. I only managed to get a couple to work properly, because my old computer was so terrible. LEGO Island 1 was awesome. I got stuck on the sequel though and never finished it. The Brickster is still one of the funniest characters to listen to.

As for the new TT games, I only own Batman and Harry Potter 1, I've pre-ordered Batman 2 and am hoping they'll bring out a complete version of Potter like they did with Star Wars.

Ah, Lego games, lost a good portion of my childhood to those....

Owned Rock Raiders (which I beat, mind you :D), Lego Island 2, Lego Loco, Lego Racers 2, and Legoland

Those were damn good games, still have them too.

Wish they would work on my computer. :'(

Damn technology...

It makes me wanna....

It looked it up right after I posted and amazingly it is.

I tried to run all my old Lego games a few months ago; needless to say modern PC's won't even launch the games.

At least I learnt an important lesson; never throw away really old hardware. You never know when you'll need it!

Lego Island 1 was my first proper PC game, I played it for hour?s nonstop and it was magic.

I think Rock Raiders might be my favourite old game of all time, I can't remember it very clearly it?s been so long, but I remember how epic it felt and I loved it.

Lego Racers, Lego Racers 2, Lego Island X-Treme Stunts... These were some fantastic old Lego games.

I also remember playing Lego Loco and Lego Creator: Knights Kingdom (which didn't actually tie into the Knight's Kingdom toy line), but, I prefer the other three up there. I like those sorts of actiony games, rather than only building stuff. I had some fun with Lego Batman, but, I think Arkham City looks better.

I had lego Mindstorms, which just confused me, I never actually managed to work out what it was about, and Lego Creator, which was better, but had a User Interface so complicated I could never build anything properly, stuff just ended up in mid air.

Recently I was at a friends house and their son was playing Lego Star Wars, so I had a few goes. It was awesome.

Thinking back, LEGO Island was probably the game that got me into video games properly. Maybe its just nostalgia but I remember that one as a really good game. The second LEGO Star Wars was great as well, and so was the third Island game. For games that are essentially a big long advertisment for the toys, they made some really good ones.

Rock raiders was great. A lot of fun and one of the few games I had when I was young. Great fun, even if it did get very difficult rather early in the game. Now that I think about it, my brothers and I even have a few inside jokes based on this game.
LEGO island, on the other hand, always glitched out on me whenever I got past a specific part. It was fun up till then though.
I had LEGO creators: Knight's kingdom, but I didn't play it much, and I barely remember it.

I loved LEGO Rock Raiders when I was young. I never was able to finish it though. That is, until this past summer, when I decided to reinstall it on my computer and finally finish it...a good 12 years after it came out and I got it hahahaha
