Leather Goddess of Phobos is also very good - though purely text.
I'm pretty sure my copy won't work anymore. I think the 5 and 1/4" is wiped from being too old. I'm pretty sure the Apple 2c still works though.

I gotta say, I'm suprised no one jumped on this the second touch screen got mainstream.
Then again, internet porn is a hard (*snicker*) contender for a soft-core erotica tongue-in-cheek adventure game to go up against.

Oh God no. Please, unless you plan to use 2D cartoonish graphics, just leave it to rest. The last two adaptations were terrible.

I kind of like the idea of remakes though, as long as it is along the "Monkey Island 1 and 2" route (a.k.a. nothing but better graphics).

Sorry to say expectations should be significantly lowered:

Here's Replay's website and game portfolio: http://www.replaygamesinc.com/games/

The remake announcement: http://www.replaygamesinc.com/blog/2011/06/replay-games-aquires-the-rights-to-leisure-suit-larry/

And what seems to be a preliminary screenshot:

I weep, weep for the art direction. Would it be too much to ask to have something closer to the earlier larrys and less like the latter ones? Or at least to be able to switch back and forth between old and new versions like monkey island?

Replay Games is a small outfit based in Austin, TX. Founder Paul Trowe got his start in the games business with Sierra back in the 80s and he was finally able to negotiate ownership of all publishing rights to Leisure Suit Larry, including the ability to create new games in the franchise. You may remember The Escapist reporting the remake back in June [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/110692-Leisure-Suit-Larry-Returns-Later-This-Year], but a representative from Replay confirmed to us that this new deal is for the whole banana.
...I hope they didn't pay too much for the rights. Talk about a series that's been dragged through the mud...

I'd love to believe that with Al Lowe back in the driver's seat the games will get out of the increasingly sleazy rut they've been descending into and regain a little more of the sense of humor of the earlier titles.

But I played "Love For Sail", and I'm pretty sure Al was still at the helm, then, and... bleah.

I think the biggest problem that a Larry games face (and one that is completely evedent in the last two) is the completely different outlook that the world has now.
Back in the days when Sierra was riding high the world saw the ugly, awkward loser trying to get laid as pitiful and pathetic and as a result Larry was portrayed as quite an obnoxious and devious character that you enjoyed seeing fail over and over again.
Nowadays with geek and nerd culture becoming mainstream and films like American Pie, Superbad, Loser etc portraying similar characters in the role of "diamond in the rough" style heroes a character like Larry just comes off as creepy and loses all of his appeal.

I believe that the idea to go with a new Larry (as in the latest games) is the right way to go, but instead of having him a smarmy pervert that is almost impossible to get behind, you have to portray him as the lovable loser who, although life keeps shitting on him, he always believes "the next time will be different".

I can feel the righteous indignation on the horizon already, to which I say "Bring it on, *****!"

I don't even care if the game is good or bad, I'm just looking forward to all the whingeing from ignorant commentators, so we can once again explain to them that games are part of the 'freedom of expression club' too, and that they wouldn't be complaining if it was a movie, before finally bidding good day to them with the advice that perhaps they'd like to start knowing shit about games before having opinions on their place in society.
