Make a 22 hour long singelplayer, and there will still be complaints of some sort.
Example, I hated halflife 2 because it just goes on and on and on and on.

Anyways, i think we need to reevaluate our expectations for FPS these days.

Im a that point where i see the singelplayer as an extended tuturial, and im more than happy with 5 hours. Im going for the multiplayer, like many others. And they know that and try to cater it. I see noo problem with that.

I think We need to differ between FPS and competitive multiplayer FPS. And the devs need to make it clear what category their game fits in.

what? my terrible spelling or the comments about the game?

because yeah I type too fast

on the other side thats the whole Idea behined any game, movie or book you know, to get you involved in the story and to have a staisfying conclusion, it depends but that feeling is better when the game is longer (hmmm that may have gone somwhere horrible)
Must... not... be... Nazi...
Oh God, I can't help it.
Really? Staisfying? And why capitalize "idea" if you just ignore the beginnings of sentences? It's all right to have a couple misspellings or forget punctuation and capitalization, but have some pride in what you put on the Internet!

With a game like Bulletstorm at least all the fun is packed into that space, no pointless travelling or 5 min conversations about things the player already figured out. Just 7 hours of concentrated action, beautiful scenery and funny, occasionally childish quips.

One thing I'd like to do is learn to make that tiny text so I could write:

(Sorry*comma* had to.)
Anyway, LULZ

No one cares about the multiplayer story. It's about one thing and one thing only: Get more killpoints than every other player.

If people are playing Homefront purely for the multiplayer, why did they devs even bother with a convoluted story about North Korea becoming a world power and defeating America in less time it took to write this sentance?

With CoD and its myriad of clones, its generally accepted that they are multiplayer games with 6 hours of filler while you wait for your friends to come online so you can play what you paid for. Homefront appears to be trying to deliver a single player experience and thinking that 5 to 10 hours is acceptable for a single player experience.

Of course length matters, the only guys who say it doesn't invariably have tiny-
wait. What? Campaign length? Yeah, that matters too. If I've completely finished a campaign mode of a game, even if it's a multiplayer game, the value of it is lessened for me. I'll play it a lot less because from then on it's just stopping and starting to find online matches.

Considering how many hours I spent slashing throats in Turok and lining up perfect butt shots in Goldeneye on n64 I will never ever get tired of Bulletstorm.

Are you crazy? Don't tell them that, otherwise they'll start making games short intentionally.
Pretty sure that's already one of the reasons.

Yeah, its a game for people who find simply shooting people so BO-RING. Which is me, and you, and other awesome people. Plasmids and gravity gun are fun alternatives, but Bulletstorm makes your foot superior to both.

If that's the case, do you wanna let them now that it's working??

Touché, good sir. Touché.

I really do wish it wasn't part of their strategy, though.

for example COD wodern warfar 2 has like a 5-6 hour campain i have played it twice. so i have 12 hours played on sigleplayer but i have 120 hours on multiplayer. thats less than a $1 per hour of game play. that seems well worth it.
Uh... that's his complaint, dude. He isn't buying a game for multiplayer.
My computer shut down in the middle of writing this post so i can be bothered writing it again in full.

basically.
He is complaining that he is buying multiplayer games for their single player components thats as silly as buying chocolate milk and complaining it doesnt have enough strawberry flavouring.

there are single player games (bioshock) and multiplayer games (cod). dont buy a multiplayer game for its single player cause a single player game can have a multiplayer component added on but its not the purpose of the game and vice versa for multiplayer games.
I understand what you're saying, but it's like Yahtzee has said many times: if a game can't stand up on its single-player alone, it shouldn't have single-player.

There is a reason Morrowind is my favorite game ever. Its 2011, it's sequals' sequal is coming out in less than a year...I am STILL playing it.
thats just cause your boring and scared to come out of your safe little morrowind bubble :)

OT: there are plenty of games that offer a long single player. like deadspaces and bioshocks and im sure there are others
I haven't beaten Deadspace, but I have beaten Bioshock and let me tell you, Bioshock's length is INCOMPARABLE to Morrowind. I really wanna make a Viagra joke but I think I'll leave it at that.

Length matters to me.

If you have an awesome game that is 5 hours long, that's fine. I may even buy it. But I'm not buying it for $60. $20? Okay. But $60? No.

You lost me at the topic title. I don't think length matters much. I'd rather play an excellent "5 hour game" like Bulletstorm (which was actually probably twice that) than a longer mediocre game. The value I place on a game isn't related to how long it takes me to finish the game, because if it's a great game (again, like Bulletstorm) then I'm going to play it again anyway.

But I'm someone with a job and other commitments, so I can't play video games 8 hours a day like some people apparently do. Even a ten hour game will take me a week or more to finish once, which is fine with me.

I'd rather a game leave me wanting more than have it overstay its welcome and drag on interminably.
