Modern music owes a massive debt to this man. The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Gn'R, Metallica, and every other rock band would not exist without him.

Rest in Peace

RIP Les Paul.

Awesome guitarist, awesome guitars and an even more awesome legend. Rock owes a lot of it's sound to Les Paul.

Does it come as a surprise to anyone else that he lived this long?

I mean 94 wow. I thought he had died some time ago.

This is not so much bad news. If you're 94 years old, you've lived a very long life, chances are you've achieved all you were meant to achieve on this run, and it's better to pass away than fossilize alive.

I've always found Les Paul guitars to be some of the prettiest and nicest sounding instruments on the planet. However the man was 94... he had a good run and while it's sad, I cannot say its unexpected.

Now if you'll excuse me I'm off to cry about John Hughes.

Oh well, nevermind.

Yes he'll be missed, but at 94 you can't exactly say he was cut down prematurely. Now get out there and celebrate his life in ultimate way possible!*

He will be missed as he's rocking out in the afterlife.

RIP, Les Paul.

Truely awesome individual. Use things that he invented everyday. Can't say I'm sad, he had a long and seemingly very happy life. Prepare for an onslaught of tribute reissue Les Pauls to be put out in his honour.

Never heard much of his music and don`t particularly like his namesake guitar ,but for being the trailblazer that he was he deserves respect R.I.P

Oh that is a sad thing to hear.
I know a lot of musicians owe a lot to this man, even those who don't play guitar have to thank him for multitrack recording.

R.I.P. *doffs hat and has a moment of silence round a cheap old Les Paul copy*
