This is not so much bad news. If you're 94 years old, you've lived a very long life, chances are you've achieved all you were meant to achieve on this run, and it's better to pass away than fossilize alive.
I've always found Les Paul guitars to be some of the prettiest and nicest sounding instruments on the planet. However the man was 94... he had a good run and while it's sad, I cannot say its unexpected.
Now if you'll excuse me I'm off to cry about John Hughes.
Truely awesome individual. Use things that he invented everyday. Can't say I'm sad, he had a long and seemingly very happy life. Prepare for an onslaught of tribute reissue Les Pauls to be put out in his honour.
Oh that is a sad thing to hear.
I know a lot of musicians owe a lot to this man, even those who don't play guitar have to thank him for multitrack recording.
