Home Depot sounds good. Should be able to start our own personal anti-zombie armory and have fun making it too.
The Police Department for Guns, then a run to the neighboring town (That has both a Target and a Wal-Mart) to defend the survivors.
Wal-mart I wouldn't just loot it I would set up shop there, Food, drink, emergency generators everything I need.
There's a gigantic hunting store in Edmonton that sells crossbows, guns, etc. I'd loot that then hole up in the 100 meter away Superstore.AceAngel said:
Anyone saying they'd hole up in a foodstore/grocery/supermarket, hasn't realised that the minute the power goes off all that meat, milk and other fresh food is going to start rotting. Having a base with thousands of flies, a tremendous stench and toxic spores is sub-optimal when dealing with a zombie outbreak as it is. In a smaller one you might be able to remove most of it, but good luck lugging the carcasses at a bigger chain.
I'd hit either Adventure Camping & Fishing or (formerly, can't remember the new name)Willoby's gun store, in my home town. This is assuming we can actually safely loot these places, I'd be hesitant to try and loot a gun store if the owners were still there.
I'm mainly doing this for one thing, bullets. The guns are all chained to the walls and way too much effort to break free in a hurry (the chain is specially coated to prevent bolt cutters and the like), but the ammunition is just stacked on shelves easy to take. There may be some survival gear I don't already have but that's secondary. We own guns and food shouldn't be too hard to loot or hunt.

Nowhere, wherever you go 2000 people will already be there, and if it carries weapons, then it will probably result in a panicked crowd, and shooting. Not the best environment for your health.
We got a Bass Pro and a Gander Mountain here..but Bass Pro is closer so that's what I am going with.

The best I could hope near here would be the Tailor's Do It Center (a "do it yourself" store) down the road. sledgehammers, 2x4s, crowbars, and nails. They could be useful and won't run out of ammo.

Yes, it's a real store. Yes, they can quite literally equip an army.
And, of course, they are one of the few easily barricaded stores in town.

go to a local Gun shop/shooting range....Then move our given weapons and all the ammo that we can reasonably carry for said weapons into a corner of the store and shoot it out till we either can leave or get killed. If we survive its off to either Walmart to collect food or we head to the local airforce base
