Strangely, the japanese one is almost as accurate a depiction as the american.
I personally think the UK ad has got it the most correct: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOKccJnILUo
I quite like this one. Watching that guy underwater actually made me feel breathless.

The only problem is that they basically say "yeah, don't bother actually applying though" at the end.

Well, ok. I wont. :(
Does the job of getting you pumped, though, doesn't it?
The UK ads are the whole reason I wanted to join the military when I was younger
Changed my mind when I realised VIOLENCE = BAD, of course.
Opposite for me. I hated the idea of joining the forces when I was younger, but I've sort of warmed to the idea now I'm probably too old.
I'm pretty sure the limit is fourty. Higher, if you're in good shape.
Oh, really? I thought the limit for the navy was something like 21 for raw recruits.

I hope it's a high one. I'd like a career path in the forces to be open for me.

I'd rather do the Timewarp.

"Lets do the timewarp!"

Basically, I don't perticularly like that video, and I don't like the Navy, as I'm afraid of big boats on water.

Is'nt that advert a bit redundant though, I thought you already had to be in the Marines to apply to be a Commando...

The third and fourth ones on the video are the best

I think the American navy advertisement makes your life out to be crap and the navy life to be awesome.

Personally, if joining the Japanese Navy meant being able to learn musical numbers like that, then sign me up!

Well, when I was going through boot camp, there were multiple individuals either near or in their thirties.
For referance's sake - this is the American Navy just shy of three years ago. I find myself doubting that policy has changed much.

Well this proves that the japanese navy will win any dance off, although i think the indian navy might give them a run for their money...

Seriously though, its a defensive army they dont plan to attack or take preventive measures against anyone. Of course they are going to be happy go lucky, you have to seem like a mean son of a ***** in the US the navy here already has a stigma about too many men in one boat. So i guess in japan they have openly accepted that fact?
My thoughts as well.

American heavy metal Vs Japenese pop music. That was proably the largest diffrence between the two.

That's just the Seals. The rest of the Navy is basically just sitting behind a computer.

I was gonna say, "Yvan eht nioj" but I see everyone and their dog already beat me to it.

So instead I'll just dance.

*starts dancing*

They both present impressive incentives but I wonder if the japanese lost because they were too busy dancing and singing double entendres.

Not to mention the word seaman vessel flashing on the screen didn't help make the Navy seem more uhh man friendly then usual.

That is Japan, you can't trust anything you see put on TV by Japan.

Edit: I do however live in a Navy area with several bases around here. I can tell you they complain a lot, get hassled by the police. They also populate the bars around town trying to find anything that will sleep with them. Well not all of them I am sure, but a large portion of the 20-24 year old crowd.
As a former 20-24 Navy personage I agree that we complain, sleep with almost anything that moves while overseas, and get piss drunk...the 90% of the crowd.

Join the Navy!

Spend all your time with men and nothing but men doing manly things while men watch! Then get poorly saluted by jail-bait at Japanese Naval Ports!
