Yeah, with that many FB, it would be amazing if there was no syndrome. It is funny that the only death is the one that could doom the fort. If Root throws a tantrum, who the hell knows what will happen.
However, in just a few minutes Sodel was dead. He apparently suffocated. Oddly enough all visible signs of the swelling on his body are gone. The only reason I even know it happened was because Lupus told me.
Root: Look behind you, no behind you. If you just turned around.
Vallorn: But I turned around Mummy.
Root: Yes but he is behind you.
Aidinthel: Don't you think making him spin in circles was a bit too far dear?
Root: Shut up I am going to kill a zombie and spawn a few more meatshields.
Aidinthel: Is that really necessary? We already have a big family despite ... well I think this place is out to get us, I regret coming here.
Root: Look I was weak and spineless before I came here, then I got drafted and I had my first kill and it was so glorious! I do not care about you all you are to me is a way to make more babbies to use as shields!
Aidinthel: ... I cannot remember why I loved you.
Vallorn: Mummy why are you and dad yelling?
Root: Kid remember when I said that killing was fun?
Vallorn: Yes?
Root: Follow me, we are going to get you your first kill.
Sorry if i butchered your characters but drinking energy drinks at 1.10 in the morning is probably not the healthiest idea.
Hope you liked it it is how i envisioned the Root house hold to be like.

Not quite got FemRoot right. I see her as far more driven, tunnel vision, thinking she can solve everything. And she's just made her first big mistake that's ended up in the death of her child. From her fault. That's taking a LOT of toll on her.
And energy drinks are NEVER a good idea. God (Buddha/Allah) invented sleep for a reason, so you can be a viking.
To make matters worse the charge was being led by a total novice. Xpheyel was a fresh recruit, but he had the courage to tackle the goblin threat head on. Such admiration is admirable in soldiers.
...I just wish he had the skill to back it up. Xpheyel was quickly overwhelmed and with help only just arriving, his death was sadly inevitable.
This LP is wonderful. It's wonderful and you are wonderful for making it, Kraken, and I would really like to be Dwarfed so that I can inevitably be drafted into the military and murdered by goblins.
Okay, maybe without the 'being murdered by goblins' thing...
We've made it another year. Reveredtour has pressed on, despite all the challenges we have faced. But how much longer can we last?
Our wealth is vast and constantly rising. The harvest is always bountiful and everyone has plenty to eat and drink. Our soldiers defend us against all threats, and those that we cannot face can be kept away. But now we face a threat that could bring about the end of Reveredtour, and I have no idea how to stop it.
The mysterious disease, which I have dubbed apokulis, could cause a potential disaster. I can't get my mind off it. I am going to dedicate my free time to studying this mystery, attempting to piece together something that will help us fight it. I've only told a few other dwarves about apokulis. Goden says that telling the general population will accomplish nothing and just stir a panic. The damage this would deal to our reputation if word spread...it's just unthinkable.

The mysterious dwarf finished her artifact. She left the workshop without saying a word, not even bothering to show off what she had completed. We only discovered that the artifact was complete when Aidinthel tried to pass it off as his own work in a drunken haze.
I wasn't expecting a door. That's a rather odd thing to make after all.
But what a grand door this is! Truly a magnificent piece of work! Such lovely decoration and materials, even the spikes manage to look pleasant rather than foreboding. To top it all off, the door has an incredible mural of our nation's legendary founder etched into it. This door should be placed where everyone can admire its splendor!
Unfortunately almost all of the rooms in our fort use double doors. This grand piece of work would look out of place next to an ordinary door. Luckily, I know the perfect spot for it!
We'll replace the door to the control room with this one. I think it is fitting. The control room is one of the most important places in Reveredtour, so a magnificent door protecting it is rather nice.
Maybe things aren't so bad after all...

Asmel has organized yet another party to celebrate the arrival of Spring. The children are always forming parties. It's how they pass the time, and the children who are now orphans use them as opportunities to bond with the others. I often attend these parties as the children view Goden and I as their surrogate mothers in a way. It's sweet, they're all so young and full of energy. That's why I have to work hard to figure out what is going on here. I have no time for these parties when death is creeping through the fort.
As much as I hate to say it, I haven't made much progress.
I've compiled all I know about apokulis into this figure, and clearly the information is lacking. What little I have to go on may not even be accurate. The 3 dwarves who may have a connection to apokulis lack any immediate connection to each other. All of them spent a great deal of time underground, but then most dwarves do. Rhiannon was the one that recovered the injured Clogged Donkey, which may explain how she became exposed to apokulis. However, Clogged Donkey doesn't appear to have infected anyone else. He could have possibly spread the diseases to Sodel, but he spends far more time around other dwarves. The complicate things further, how did Clogged Donkey survive? Suffocation seems to be the cause of death and I'm not sure how one would endure that.
A chilling thought is that apokulis has infected many dwarves in the fort. It just takes a long time to show any effects. That would explain why the victims have dropped dead at seemingly random times...but I don't want to believe that this is the cause. There would be nothing we could do about this. Plus if it did work like that I imagine there would be more victims by now.
Really all I can do is keeping looking for more information. Hopefully something will come up...preferably not in the form of another dead dwarf.

Well it looks like we're still getting new residents. We must have a really good reputation if people are deciding to live here despite all the problems. Or maybe things are just getting really bad back in the capital.
It's another average sized group and from the looks of things none of them have any notable skills. That's fine though. I'm just glad people want to live here.

My initial prediction about the new migrants was correct. None of them had any well-developed skills. So I figured the best use for them was military service.
Now the Earthen Tomes is a full squad. With both the Immortal Rags and Earthen Tomes holding a full roster, we will need to add another squad before we can expand the military. I could have formed some of the remaining migrants into this squad, but they need a decent leader. Perhaps the next batch of migrants will have a promising soldier to train a new squad.
kraken, you need (read:it would be rather cool) to make a quarantine area. next migrant wave, lock them in with food/booze, if apokulis wipes out everyone else, that group could survive.
hooray im still not dead surprisingly i wish my dwarfy self would do something interesting, he just seems kinda... boring at the moment. Who knows, if root goes crazy maybe i could decapitate her and take her place? oh i said that out loud didnt i....
