Off topic question time: Of all the games you played in 2011, which disappointed you the most? For me, it was Dragon Age 2. I liked DA:O, and I thought DA:2 was somewhat enjoyable. But it was a big disappointment to me. So I give it only a 0 on my rating scale (Which goes from -5 to +5). And maybe +1 on a good day.

Also, does anyone know what anime that picture is from?
next time, don't pick an anime that's incredibly popular if you want guessing to be a challenge.

Personally, my disappointing game would be Deus ex: HR. I tried to get into it, but the gameplay isn't very good and I couldn't get into it.

I'll try to find something more obscure next time. But to be honest, I just google-imaged "Do not want" and found the best pic that way.

Shame about HR for you though. As I said, that was my GotY

[HEADING=2]Let?s Play: Pokemon Ruby 27: In which we beat up a cripple[/HEADING]

Victory road time

I always found this part of the game to be most annoying.

I cut out a lot of frustration, but suffice to say, it wasn't a fun run

THE LIGHT!

Basically, I have type advantage on everything he throws at me.

It couldn't have gone better if I planed it this way

Freedom!

Next time: We take on the endgame

Question time: Of all the rivals in all the games, which one did you like the most? For me, I thought Silver was a good one.

Also, and this is a larger question: What team should we use for the Elite Four?

Here [http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Elite_Four_(Hoenn)#Hoenn_Elite_Four] is what we're going up against.

I'll edit and comment again, but I think it would help if we knew all your pokemn, or at least the ones that are at the level where you could beat the elite four with them so you dont have to ground endlessly.

Actually, that's not much of a problem for me. I'm willing to do that if a pokemon can be useful in the Elite Four

Coolio. As I said, ya'll are better at this than I am. I can also go catch specific pokemon if needed. That won't be much of a problem.

What are you using that Pelipper and Minum for? I mean, I take it that pelipper is a fly slave, and youre using minum for an electric type, but is the minum also a support/status pokemon?

The Pelipper is a Fly/Surf slave. The Minum was just the one I used for Flash so I could get through the cave.

Alright. I would get rid of both, and teach your swampert Surf nd waterfall if you avent. have him also know earthquake, and I would say probably... ice beam.

~~~
then I would go with your flygon, go with crunch, earthquake, dragon claw/breath (claw does 80 phys damage with 15 pp, breath does 60 sp damage with 20 pp and 30% chance at paralysis), and fire blast/flamethrower (flamethrower for more acc, fire blast for more power and less pp).
~~~

That Cacturn will be good if it has Giga drain, faint attack, needle arm, and spikes (I would aslo make him one of your leads, so you can set up spikes [however drake wont be affacted except maybe his shelgon, so its not worth it on him]).

~~~
Magcargo for a fire type, and his rock type could come in handy even though his phys attack stat is rather... meh. teach him rockslide, flamethrower, toxic and yawn.
switch out that Machoke for a hariyama, better attack and HP and speed, but twenty less def in than machoke. have it know vital throw/arm thrust (vital throw makes you go second but always hits, armthrust goes 2-5 turns wth a 15 power each [so you can go from 30 to 75 attack], brick break, Smellingsalt (does more damage against paralyzed opponents, but does a normal 60 damage), and maybe protect?
~~~

So lets see.... thats water, ground, dragon, fire, rock, righting, normal, dark, grass, and a status poison and normal move.

i would say... either Skarmory for the flying/steel and go with aerial ace, steel wing, razor wind, and another spiker (or you could do sandstorm I suppose and the only one who will take damage would be hariyama on yur team.

~~~
Or alternatively you could go with Slakoth to be a slaking, get that bulk and power, but also that truant ability.
so its up to you really, and hwat other people say, but I would say go with that. definitely go with your flygon and teach it earthquake if you have the TM still, and if not make sure it has dig. and dump that pelipper and minum.
EDIT:
my favorite over all is Gary in a scorched earth hack of red, because he doesnt start out as a total dick, but becomes one as you beat him more, so it makes him feel more human. But as to just the regular games... either the bianca/cheren combo of black/white or barry in Diamond/pearl/platinum.
I would like to know what you yourself are planning on using before I give my opinion on what team to use, but first, let me think about the Hoenn league members.
Sidney: Dark types: Fighting and bug attacks are most effective here, but grass, electric Flying, fire and ice would also be very effective as two of his are part grass. The Grass and Electric types are for his Sharpedo. Hit him hard and fast, never give a dark type user time to fight back.
Phoebe: Ghost types: Hoenn's beach babe who talks to the dead (Why do the hot ones have to be weird?) When I fought this girl, I just overpowered her, but if you have ghost and dark type attacks use them. Also watch out for your Flygon if you're going to use it, Phoebe's Dusclops knows ice beam.
Speaking of ice.
Glacia: Ice types: This woman is a cold hearted *****, beat her down with fighting, fire, rock, electric and steel type attacks. Or your can just overpower her. However her Walrein can take a beaten and she will open the battle with hail to give blizzard a 100% accuracy. Also watch out for Sheer Cold, I know it's accuracy is only 30% but it's still a dangerous attack, a one hit KO. Oh and she will heal, a lot.
Drake: Dragon Types: No question here hit him with dragon and ice type attacks, rock will also come in handy but I doubt you will need it. One thing though, Salamence is fast and the one thing about dragons is the fact that they have access to a lot of attacks, making them a formiddable foe. Also I wonder does Drake's skill come from his moustache?
I won't say anything about the champion yet though.
Also I've love/hated the way Wally confronts you at the end of victory road, looks like somebody has been taken leasons from Blue.
I thought All the rivals were annoying assholes save Wally. two fight the entire game? Yes please, plus he introduced me to the Ralts family, so I couldn't hate 'im for that. Also why does every Dragon trainer use Altaria? It isn't even a dragon pokemon.
You also have to mention that if you're pokemon is a higher level than the user, mmoves like sheer cold wont work.
Altaria (Japanese: チルタリス Tyltalis) is a dual-type Dragon/Flying Pokémon.
I should point out that I haven't used ANY of the TMs. So that gives us a lot more room to work with.
That does.
well, i'll stick with my answer, but for sure I would keep in flygon and try to balance him maybe as a mix attacker. definitely give him earthquake though, since he cant learn it by level up i this game, and its almost a crime with his typing/stat to not have it.
EDIT: though I guess it would be nice to know which TMs you hve.
Was that helpful? There are fewer in this game than there are in Gen IV. And if I missed one that was helpful, I can always go get it
TM 2 (dragon claw) is in meteor cave, if yu ant to go get that. I dont know who all can learn it outside flygon for sure, but its a good phys tm to teach pokemon and give them some more type coverage.
...
actually... with TM support you could raise a threatening gardevoir, but I dont really think you'd need one when all your other pokemon couold do it better (outside an electric type to learn thunderbolt, but its not really necessarily.
Silver was my favorite rival of all time. He was more than just some guy that followed you around, he was a character. His belief that the strong should dominate the weak is fascinating and makes all of his actions make sense. The strong are the only ones worthy of victory, so he must be the strongest. He takes what he wants from those weaker than him because he believes he deserves it, he demands perfection from his Pokemon because he only wants strength, he attacks Team Rocket because he wishes to prove his strength, and he treats you like crap when he loses because he is afraid to admit that he's weak.
CM156 said:
Ooh, this is gonna take some thought.
Swampert is definitely in there, and I'd give it Surf, Ice Beam, Earthquake, and Hydro Pump.
I always highly reccomend a Gardevoir with Psychic, Shadow Ball, Thunderbolt, and Calm Mind. Love Gardevoir.
Flygon is also a strong choice. For moves, I'm thinking Crunch, Earthquake, Dragonbreath, and Flamethrower.
Cacturne with Needle Arm, Giga Drain, and a decent Dark attack would be good.
Magcargo can be dangerous with Flamethrower, Rock Slide, Toxic, and...uh...maybe Yawn.
And finally, a fighting type. Hariyama would probably work better than Machoke, but either one's a good bet. Not really sure on what moves would be good though.
