[HEADING=2]Let?s Play: Pokemon Ruby Part 3: In which we meet the Evil Team Cult[/HEADING]

So here we are in the Petalburg Woods. Here's a map of what it looks like.

And then we see this guy. Just standing in one place, looking forward. Does anyone do anything interesting in their free time in the pokemon world?

Sadly, there's no option to show them if you have one.

Annnnnnnnd this is the first we see of the evil team cult in this game. More on that later.

What do you want?

And he hides behind a 12 year old girl. If a scary man in red comes up to you and demands research papers, what do you do? I don't know, perhaps give them over or run away. Nothing stopping him from involving law enforcement, right?

Need I remind you that our hero is a child?

Not by choice

Wait, you have a team? Can I join?

Did you get those clothes at Hot Topic?

He's taken down easily enough.

You've already lost to a child once. And you wanna do so again?

And you're telling me this.... why?

Whatever helps you sleep at night, poser

Gee, thanks.

That was odd. Anyhow, I caught a bunch of pokemon that I wasn't expecting this update.

And then I emerge from the woods.

There's a flower/berry shop nearby. Let's stop in.

Nope

And here we come to two-on-two battles. I rather enjoy these. If I'm not mistaken, they were added in Generation 3.

I'd make a joke about fighting twin sisters at once, but even I have standards.

Again, they're rather easy fights, when it's all said and done. We then come across a guy who has three Magikarps

And now we're in a new town.

I go north and run across a few pokemon.

I think we can all agree that this:

looks like this:

Right?

A few fights later...

That should make things easier.

There's also a nearby cave.

Damn you, small rocks! You're almost as bad as the small shrubs!

Easy there, big guy. Easy.

Here's the obligatory pokemon school.

Annnnnd here's the Gym. That will be the bulk of my next update.

And here's our team. Think we stand a chance? I think so

Question time: What is your favorite pokemon type? As in, water, fire, flying, ect.

I'm partial to Ice. I've always thought ice, in and of itself, was rather cool.

Just read through the first three chapters, great work on catching that shiny.

Also to answer your thread questions. Yes I have played Pokemon Ruby, it was my favourite Gameboy Advance game and my favourite type is the water type. I like them because of their stats and are capable of learning some awesome attacks not just water, a lot of them such as my favourite water type Milotic are capable of learning my favourite move, Mirror Coat.

Always glad to have another reader join!

Water is what I always picked as a stater type, till generation 5. In gen 4, I barely used my starter, and got my high level Swampert as soon as I could. In Gen 5, I picked Grass. Then again, I barely played Gen 5, so that's not much, anyways.

I'm so immature.

Hmmm, I don't know much about Pokemon to say...probably normal type.

You know, because they can use harden *nudge, nudge*...I'm so immature.

And yes, yes you are immature.

Dont rely on ralts too much on nosepass. Actually... probably your best bet is marshtomp, just cause hes not weak to rock and he'll hopefully still have WG and maybe MS

other then that... your ralts could probably deal a good portion of damage to everyone int hat game just going against the Sp. Def.

Question time: What is your favorite pokemon type? As in, water, fire, flying, ect.

Vaporeon is a Water type, thats my favorite pokemon, and some of my other favorite pokemon have been water. So that as a Solo type. Though electric is probably my second favorite Solo Type.

However, I like anything thats Steel/- because of the immunities and resistances you get with it. plus in recent Gens they give you a lot of good pokemon that are partial steel. If I were to ever by a gym leader, steel would be my type.

...

Though I think my favorite combination is either Fighting/Fire or Water/Steel.

and yet not a single normal type can use it (even dual types).

I honestly thought you named it costa for costa rica.
Actually, that's correct.

It's a Costa Rician joke (Not exclusive to there, I'm sure) about there being two-toed sloths, three-toed sloths, and five-toed sloths. You find the first two in the wild, and the last one in the government buildings.

See, I wasn't lying, I really don't know much about Pokemon.

However, apparently Snorlax can use harden, and he's a normal type.

I'm told the joke is funnier in Spanish. I bluffed my way though Spanish, so take that as you will.

'Tis a bit dark, if you think about it. In tone, that is.

I like this one a bit more

[HEADING=2]Let?s Play: Pokemon Ruby Part 4: In which we learn to cut ourselves[/HEADING]

So here we are. First Gym time! Warning to this update: There's a lot of text.

This is starting to sound like a infomercial...

Don't let my pokemon faint? Thanks

Together? Don't make me laugh. No really, don't

Dang it! I told you not to make me laugh!

Oh, I get it. ROXanne.

So if I picked the Fire type, I'm screwed?

"If"?

Rather odd design choice...

In case you were wondering, I fought all the trainers. Because I'm that amazing. Or because they're pushovers.

By the way, how did a little girl get to be a gym leader?

Why do you capitalize all proper nouns and in-game terms?

So she's a schoolgirl? Again, who runs this system?

Gladly, you preppy *****!

No trick of editing there. One hit kill with water gun.

She threw out another pokemon, Nosepass, but that got taken down in two. To be fair, she's rather weak, and she only has 2 pokemon.

I've been doing that for years.

A bloke from team magma rushes by with something.

So we've gotta save you... again?

Is that your wife? Don't worry, I'll save her!

Where's the woman?

Sure, why not?

One pokemon which goes down in one hit later...

Says the person who just committed kidnapping and larceny

Wait, THAT is Peeko?

Something does trouble me: You have an odd relationship with that bird...

One transition later...

Nope. Cut for time, but he takes us to his boss who want's us to deliver something to another town, and a letter to Steven. Ok.

NEXT TIME:

I'll be catching a Aron and a Makuhita. I need names.

Question time: Who's your favorite Gym leader? Mine is Byron.
He's the most manly of men.

As a side note, due to my school ending and me moving back in with my parents for break, ect, updates will be a tad more uncommon. But I'll try to get them out as frequently as I can.

For the names for the Pokemon: Male Aron is Tank and I got nothin for female, same with the Makuhita. As for gym leader this adorable thing:
