But one of my all-time favorites has to be Let's Play Doom 3 by Kikoskia. Probably because:
a) I hadn't played it.
b) Kiko is genuinely not used to scary games and freaks out quite a bit early on. By the end of it he's taking down armies of demons like they're nothing. It's charming.

That's my favorite as well. I like how he acts as if every person is talking to him. And Spunty for obvious reasons. He got me into watching LPs.

Also big fans of Nova, sp00n, SSoHPKC(Killing Floor), GassyMexican, Helloween4545(Cryostasis LP is in my top 5), Necroscope86, hildegain(takes him ages to finish a game though), JohnnyNodoff, and OverTheGun(doesn't put his videos into playlists which is annoying cause he has loads).

I hate to admit this, but watching LP's is one of my favourite pass-times. More than watching movies or actually playing games, I watch LP's....because, well, its kind of like both at the same time.

For me, its a lot like watching Mystery Science Theatre if anybody remembers that.

I'm in the same boat. I watch more LPs than anything else put together.

Reminds me a lot of MST3K. God I miss that show.

I don't think your aloud to make LPs of Rockstar games. From what I can gather they think it spoils the game for people who then won't buy the game. They'll have YouTube take down your videos. The only LP of L.A. Noire I've seen is Toby's.

It wouldn't be a LP. It would be creating an entirely new case using scenes from the game in a kind of Frankenstein's monster type-mashup. (Like making the Captain of the LAPD into the Mayor, turning Mason into a badass Priest, etc)

Gamefront has a LA Noir LP and so does TheMedia Cows and iJustineGaming.

To be polite, the signal to noise ratio for YouTube LPs is ... let's say it's less than ideal.

Go to lparchive.org and look through things there. You'll thank yourself later.

I've seen a LOT of shitty ones, a few decent ones, and very rarely good ones.

PROTIP: DON'T feel the need to read every word of dialogue, ESPECIALLY not in a "funny" voice. It gets old FAST.

and 2: DON'T force the need to be "funny". I almost ALWAYS have to mute any LP's I watch because of these two reasons, I can only think of "maybe" 2 or 3 I've seen where I haven't had to.

We actually have ten episodes on youtube at the moment. I didn't want to link to anything, due to the Escapist's strict "No advertising" policy, but since you asked, here's a link to our groups webpage. We're planning a full out, 4 day zombie game marathon in July (Halloween in July). We figured zombie's are HUGE lately, and we all love them, so why not try to capitalize on it.

Like I said though, the RE5 LP is our very first attempt at anything like this, and as such, it is kind of choppy. We've been messing around with different softwares to find one that fits perfectly, and hopefully our next game will be higher quality.

However, something I WISH somebody would do, is do a Let's Play, but REALLY get into it. Use their commentary to add narration to the game, or speak in character, as if they were the character's conscience, or something along those lines. A Let's Play that isn't just humorous commentary over gameplay, but a Let's Play that tries to be an actual movie.

Know what I mean?

In the RE5 one I've got going, my buddy and I kind of go back and forth doing this. He plays Chris, who periodically goes off on rants about his bulging biceps and his father issues, and I play Sheva, kind of the straight guy (he's better at improv, so he generally has the better one liners). Unfortunately, we broke character more than we wanted to in the first episodes and never got fully back on track, but we try to when we can.

Somebody else has to know about The Yogscast. These guys just do hilarious stuff, especially on Minecraft. Their Minecraft Lets Plays are great, since they play Adventure Maps and just have a good time. They also do (or did) Mod Spotlights for Minecraft, which was really great.

Another good one I found recently is Cupquake. SHe does some really enjoyable stuff.

Seananners and Captainsparklez both do things together and are both hilarious.

He doesn't speak when there's a cutscene going on, his comments while playing are funny and adds that extra something to the game at the same time. He also has the tendency to make scary games funny and scary at the same time.
