I actually screamed in distress when L died, I then completely lost interest in the series.
But seriously you should read One Piece, it's one of the few anime that gets more interesting as it goes, and the filler stories are few, far between, and actually entertaining.

I liked Death Note up until the demise of L (I know, I'm so original). The constant mental warfare between Light and L was very well done because the audience would have to pause from time to time to absorb all of what just happened. If I could sum the first half of this show up in one word, it would be "intelligent". After L's death though, the show went downhill fast. Last episode was still satisfying though.

Kinda hard to understand if you missed out on alot of the episodes like i did, all i got from the story was that this guy was a serial killer, cause he wrote stuff in the book, and this chick wanted to be his girlfriend, and there is a super evil/good corporation trying to stop him

Honestly, the show doesn't hold a candle to the manga. The 2nd half of the series was pretty enjoyable, and you get to see the proper fall from grace at the end, not the lame one the anime had.

Death Note is anime-Twilight.

The characters are one-dimensional, unlikeable, pose too much, and the show is built around perhaps the stupidest premise in existence.

There is no reason at all to read it if you are a heterosexual male.
Except your not heterosexual are you? Because, as anyone who has watched the show can tell you, one of the storyline characters is there mainly for sex-appeal. Of course you wouldn't pick up on that since your not attracted to cute blond girls in skimpy goth PJs are you? (cough cough)

I'm going out on a limb here, better than both Naruto and Bleach combined.
Wow. Talk about scraping the bottom of the barrel.
I'm going out on a limb here, but I think that getting violently raped by one guy is better than getting ass raped by an entire prison wing who is currently experiencing a desperate lube shortage.
Kinda reminds me of those random threads where someone claims "The escapist forums are the best forums ever!!! Far better than 4chan or youtube!" ... yeah... -.-;

Oh and for the record. Death Note is meh at best. Its anime 101 for all the newbies to drool over.
Sure its a okay watch but once again they ruin it by letting it run far too long.
The reason I said that was that there's a lot of Naruto and Bleach fans that I thought would get angry. looks like I underestimated the intellect of this forum.

The first part of the series was pretty good as it focused on the cat and mouse interaction between L and Light, unfortunately the series kinda went downhill in the last two thirds. Personally I think there are better anime series, such as Code Geass, which is similar but with giant robots.

EDIT: Oh crap, it looks like a flame war is starting, DUCK AND COVER!

L was the sole reason I ever got so deeply involved in the story. I think IGN summed up my experience with Death Note perfectly:

Death Note paid this guy the ultimate backhand compliment. As soon as he left the series, it fell straight off a cliff. The second that L's no longer involved in the plot, you may as well put it down and find something else to watch.

People like what you dont like. I dont even like the show but if you are not going to contribute then dont bother posting.
Topic = "Let's Talk About Death Note" not "Group Masturbation Session to L".

Hm... I thought I was contributing my opinion same as you.

"You don't agree with us" = "DON'T SPEAK"

For the sake of my faith in humanity, I hope you're still in high school.
It's entirely possible to contribute your opinion without saying that everyone that disagrees with you is a homosexual. Give it some practice. I know you can do it. :D

I also hope for my sake in humanity that you're still in high school.

Watched it for Light not L. Anti-climactic much? The worst ending of any anime I've ever seen. Even Inuyasha's people lost interest lets stop making episodes at a random point was better.

I found it to be a pretty good anime, a lot better than most of the other "mainstream" works out there, but I've seen better. Code Geass, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni and Cowboy Bebop, to name a few I've liked more than it.

Still, it has a special place in my heart, seeing as it did get me into anime in the first place, along with, of course, Cowboy Bebop.

Also, unrelated question, is Soul Eater any good?

I personally disliked it. Not because of the characters, not because of the writing, plot, or any other factor about it. It's because my friend won't shut the fuck up about how it's the most amazing thing ever created ever.

It annoys me, especially since he's only seen all of 2 anime and will only watch an anime that I recommend to him for about 2 episodes then say "I didn't really like it". while some of this could be personal taste, I've recommended him about 5 anime of varying genres INCLUDING code geass (which I would consider death note with mechs). None of this would be at all bad if he wouldn't then turn around and chastise me for not finishing with Serial Experiments Lain (an anime that he himself hasn't even stated watching)

And the only thing that makes me dislike it so much is because know that it's turned several people into this type of person, and it disappoints me

In short I just dislike it because it's made my friends ridiculously close-minded...[small]and Misa...[/small]

I thought Soul Eater was okay, the first half was absolutely spectacular, but it completely falls apart in the second half... and the ending, oh god it was a train wreck...

Seriously, if you want to actually see how Light dies, read the last couple manga chapters. No pussyfooting around :)

Well, it's by far the best manga I've read (don't watch anime because I'm to lazy to download/stream it. :D) so far, and I love the characters, mainly because everyone has something to like about them.

My favourite must have been L though. Too bad he died. If only he had known what Kira knew... The series would've been over in 10 minutes after L got introduced. =P (ok, maybe not THAT fast, but you get what I mean)

I thought It was pretty good... It wasn't Code Geass... But it was still good...

Yeah, second half was boring, but I continued to watch it...

I just really wanted Light to die...

Especially seeing as both have brilliant first halves which are tense and good, and second halves which make little sense and which are re-runs of pretty much the same thing - R2 was too fan-influenced (hence the super-nuke only blinding Cornelia's knight and other rubbish). At least with Code Geass, R2 had lots of awesome robot fights to take away from stuff like the China arc (when Lelouch became Ledouche and lost any idea of tactics)
