In the case of Sabaton, I just haven't gotten a chance to listen to the album much since it released, so I finally made time to listen through it. I'm still not sure how I feel about it compared to The Art of War or Coat of Arms, but it is still a fun album to listen to.
I absolutely love the Heroes album!
Seen Sabaton live twice, both concerst rank very high on my favrites list :D

I also listen a lot to Rock and Metal.
Stuff like Iron Maiden, Hammerfall, Sabaton, Nightwish (when Tarja was around), W.A.S.P., Black Sabbath, Iron Mask, Axel Rudi Pell etc etc.

I'm not into death/growl Metal but I think it's OK in small doses, like Amaranthe, Bullet for my Valentine, In Flames and such, band which do both clean and growl in the same songs.

Hahaha, yeah true. It's the same if you were to post anything from Metallica's St. Anger or Morbid Angel's Illud Divinum Insanus. Even in jest, it just isn't worth the risk to your health (and sanity).

Maybe its a "rarity" thing but it makes me want to buy it.
I tried sticking to the older music for most of the bands. Lot of metal heads I've met seem to spit on any albums released after '06 for some reason.

I find myself rather amazed that some great bands have gone entirely unmentioned thus far. Let's remedy that!

And that's it for now.

Yeah, it's rare as fuck. Tom Warrior himself has disowned the album, and no record label will see it as any kind of profit, so it'll never be re-issued I don't think, save shitty bootlegs. As for Celtic Frost, personally, I've only heard the first two albums as well as the old Hellhammer material. I haven't, ashamed to say, listened to anything beyond Into the Pandemonium (except for the occasional morbid interest in Cold Lake). I should get around to at least checking out Monotheist sometime.

Guess I'll have to spend a pretty penny then.
And people say being a music fan is easy.

Monotheist is pretty damn good. Its a lot heavier and darker than their earlier stuff though.

I had completely forgotten about Hellhammer. I don't think I've ever listened to any of it. I should fix that.
After some sleep though.

Night man, nice talking metal with you!

Definitely check out Hellhammer, it's cool to see some of the earliest foundations of extreme metal in its rawest form (besides Venom, of course).

Good night dude. It has been a pleasant discourse.

Well, there actually are a few Heavy metal songs here, but it's kind of minority :( Lots of metal, but little of i is heavy.

That said how can you have Heavy Metal thread without Heavy Metal

With Metal all I currently care about is the new At the Gates album on the way, but there are a few bands I heard at Bloodstock who are well worth checking out.

Psykosis: Thrash Band
Shining: Avant-garde
Entombed A.D Death 'n' Roll
There was a band there called Evil:Scarecrow as well, a Parody Metal band that used to play my local pub every Halloween. They opened the main stage and gave the most memorable performance of the festival

I've been digging a lot of Cancer Bats lately. Crossover Hardcore Punk/Sludgy Metal sort of vibe, heavily influenced by Black Sabbath (They even did a covers EP). "Harem of Scorpions" "Hail Destroyer" and "Sorceress" in particular.

Dillinger Escape Plan. I didn't get into this until relatively recently, but it's insane. A lot of their stuff's weird out there, insanely fast, complicated guitar riffs, and their relentless changing of pace and timing, and their unconventional structure means a lot of it takes a few listens to get. I'd recommend "One of us is the killer" for a start, "Crossburner", and if you're game "Farewell Mona Lisa" "Hero of the Soviet Union" "Panasonic Youth".

Dethklokk. Fictional Death Metal band, basically the work of Brendon Small. There's a little Adult Swim cartoon called Metalocalypse, which parodies heavy metal, amongst other things, and features the band Dethklok. There's actually some really good stuff here, and Small even got together a band and toured on it. "Rejoin" "I ejaculate fire" and from the rock opera "Some Time Ago/The Duel/I believe" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1xkH0yINgQc

Finally, I always try to mention The Killing Tree, one of my favourite bands, defunct metalcore act of Rise Against vocalist Tim McIlrath and ex-RA guitarist Todd Mohney. "Replace my Heart" "The Perfect" "We have awakened (Vengeance)". Melodic Metalcore, and easy on the breakdowns, it's pretty different from modern core, easily one of my favourites.

As my favourite artist, I can't speak his praises enough. So here's a few more Hevy Devy tunes (some metal, some decidedly not):

Seriously, I can't ever get enough of Devin Townsend.

As a Metalhead of roughly 35 years, it blows my mind at how many sub-genres of metal there are nowadays.

How is it that I've never heard of Edguy? It's like finding previously unreleased cd's of Iron Maiden.

I don't know how many videos I started listening to that start out great, then they start growling. *sigh*

Here's a group you youngsters may not have heard before.
