Lately I've been a bit run down. Filled with despair and all manner of angst. Too much so. A lot of people have similar problems. So let's just cheer up by reminding each other of the little and big things that remind us despite the bruises, life is simply beautiful.

For example:

The story of the kids in Brazil coming into school wearing skirts was a really touching story. A transgender student was fined for wearing a skirt so the classmates came in wearing skirts of their own, boys and girls alike. The principle said they'd relax the rules I believe and the fine was taken off.

Well, I've been browsing through a playlist of old videos I found on YouTube. There's some pretty darn funny stuff in there that brightened up my day.

As long as there's laughter like that somewhere in the world, everything goan be a'ight.

Not so much a cheer upper, but I'm never really cheered up by these sorts of things. More making peace with things which are negative, and dealing with it. I'd recommend the entire album, it always calms me down when I'm feeling negative. The combination of cheery folk music, brutal punk cynicism and yet a pretty optimistic outlook always makes me feel better.

" But Doctor I am Pagliacci !"

This is perhaps a bit egotistical, but it's probably the best part of my performance art. For some people, getting to interact with my character is something akin to a fairytail, or a fantasy, and with just a smile you see their cares & troubles fade away ( if only for a minute or two ) while allowing them to experience that simple joy most of us discard as 'childish whimsey' as we grow up. Even when my character is darker the same applies, giving someone the space and permission to express themselves in a way they normally feel they cannot.

Perhaps it's superficial, and only a small moment of joy, but it's something I take pride in as well.
