Note: I did a search first and the one similar thread I found Didnt really Give me any answers...

Some time ago, I lost all my Timesplitters Future Perfect Mapmaker maps, but a few days ago I finally made enough room on my memory cards to make some new ones. While surfing the internet for ideas for maps, I eventually decided to look at far cry, because Crytek now owns Timesplitters I believe and may be making Timesplitters 4. The main thing i was interested in was the level editor of Far cry because it might be some way close to what the mapmaker in Timesplitters 4 will be like(since its the same company)

So I looked at vids on youtube of the Far Cry 2 Level Editor, and it looks amazing...
But I don't think its posssible to make Story missions as it was in Timesplitters Mapmaker, which was a real letdown. I have LittleBigPlanet and the level creator is great in that but I really would like a more 3D level creator(like timesplitters)

So I came here to ask, what games have good level editors, preferable one where I can make single player levels(Or do I have to wait for Timesplitters 4).

Note: I own a PS3, PS2 and a not very up to date computer(about 4 or 5 years old i think)
Note 2: I'm not really interested in full game creater programs or huge mods for games like Garys Mod, but by all means post them because someone else might come to this thread looking for something like that.

Ah, Timesplitters, good times.

I tried out the Farcry 2 editor and had alot of fun with it. I'm hopping they'll do the same thing in Timesplitters 4... if they make it.

Edit: The Elder Scrolls Construction Set and the G.E.C.K. are both very good.

The best level editor I have ever seen in a game was in Timesplitters: Future Perfect. The levels were easy to make and they looked great. I loved everything about that game, it had a great story, lots of humour, a co-op mode, awesome arcade, and a mind-blowing level editor. Timesplitters is the shit. I can't wait for the fourth one!

Another good level editor was the construction set for Oblivion. Only problem was that the thing was so fucking hard to use that when I finally got good at using the damn thing I was tired of Oblivion.

The second you said timesplitters i just dazed off and thought of all the wonderful virus match times with all your mates on a couple of small crappy tvs, with booze.

Now everyone must have their own xbox, own tv and only a beer per person.

I miss the good old timesplitters days!!!!

It is (And so is the game IMO) although the building selection is kind of scarce. :/

Are you able to make story missions in that level editor or is it just multiplayer maps you can make?

It's multiplayer only (Sorry if you specified otherwise in the OP, too lazy to read :/ ) if you want a level editor that allows singleplayer levels I suggest using Valve's Source Engine. I'm actually working on a single-player (Original) story mod with another Escapist right now. Here's the video of what he's done so far (I'm just the writer, he does all the real work :/).

just MP maps, sorry.
and then you need to find a bunch of friends whom want to play your maps or enough randoms (difficult, though still possible, which is nice)
if it could make SP ones, that would have been epic.
i personally love map editors and custom game options. and modding/mapping on the PC for assorted games, the console level editor's big brother.

The Morrowind/Oblivion/Fallout 3 Construction Sets are great. I really like them, and are fairly easy to get used to.
You could use Hammer (Source games) but it is more difficult, and not as user friendly.

ArmA II has the best Level editor ever, but you need a PC from the future to even run it.
I'd go with Far Cry 2 or Garrys Mod (it's easier than you think).

Also, timesplitters map editor for president!
I'm seconding Garry's mod and ArmA II. Valve's hammer editor is pretty easy to use once you've got the basics down, too.

Future Perfect is one of the best games ever. It's level editor is also excellent.

Other than TSFP and Far Cry, I'd say Half Life (1 or 2) is the way to go, and if you have a good enough computer, then you'd probably want to go with HL2 (just look at the other games powered by Source).

(..you could also try this classic alternative. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doom_Wads])
