So you may be wondering why I'm making a movie topic in the game discussion section. Well, it's a move about gamers. Just look at this.
Wow, just wow. Not only does it give cartoon network fans who still watch the network for cartoons a nice slap, but it's also insulting the intelligence of non-gamers by telling them that the monsters can somehow escape. I say somehow, because if you've watched the trailer above, apparently all that happens is a monster goes through a game portal, some kind of power surge happens, and he ends up in the real world somehow. Not only that, but it looks to be aiming to stereotype teen gamers. Not to mention the plot has probably been used 3 other times now and those movies actually explained it better, or were stupid enough that the film ending on that note wasn't the lowest they could go. This just looks like it wants to insult the intelligence of everyone watching. This film is going to be an incredible train wreck.

I knew it, the old owner of CN was assassinated after the release of MegasXLR and the new guy took his place, the team is currently unaware of it. This is one of his creations!

And with this I take CN out of the "Why God why" part of my brain, and toss it into the "please die" bin with sonic, it's also the spot in my brain I will never pay attention to again, unless someone tells me its worth looking at

I was about to say 'that looks crap for a movie, should be a TV series', then I looked it up, and found out that it was a TV series.

Yeah, I'm sure that when all non-gamers see this TV series they'll lock up their computers in fear of children letting monsters run wild. Are you serious? Seriously serious? This is something that has upset you? Would you care to offer a more reasonable explanation as to how a video game character escapes into the real world? Voodoo rituals, perhaps?

Not only that, but it looks to be aiming to stereotype teen gamers.
Of course it does, it's a bloody children's show, they live, breathe and run on stereotypes. There was also a token black guy in there. So bloody what? It's not as if anyone who watches the show is gonna take it seriously.

Not only does it give cartoon network fans who still watch the network for cartoons a nice slap...
OK yeah that is actually pretty stupid. It's a cartoon channel, stick to cartoons.

Everything else you said is ridiculous though.

The show's aimed towards pre-teens who think teens are, like, totally cool.

Not surprised.

... ... ...It's a movie.

A low budget movie, even. How could you possibly find anything that happens in the movie offensive?

Take a chill pill, bro.

They gotta try somehow, I mean Adult swim is slowly encroaching onto earlier and earlier time slots... Although like half of adult swim needs to die. Only watch it for American Dad! at this point.

That looks awful but... I caught that the name of the town it's set in is Daventry Hills. Daventry. Like, King's Quest reference? Or am I giving them WAY too much credit?

Probably the second one.

Contention point 1: I was not saying that non-gamers are that stupid, I'm saying the fill assumes they are. And at least with one of those johnny test episodes they actually explained the video game characters getting to the real world by having it be through a super advanced wet-dry matter conversion computer. Here it's just, woop the monster goes into a portal, power sure, suddenly real. That is insulting.

Contention point 2: Being a kids show does not give it the right to stereotype everyone. If that was true, dora the explorer would un-ironically make every episode about crossing the border illegally and working for minimum wage at a taco restaurant or as a minimum wage groundskeeper. People don't let video games or movies or non-kids shows get away with stereotypes, why should it be that much different for a kids show? Plus, the fact that parts of the media still thinks of gamers as those kids in the trailer means we still have some work to do in convincing people that gaming is for everyone. The only exception here is south park, and that's only because they're actually doing it ironically. And also some good organized crime TV shows that I probably don't watch.

Point 3: We do agree here, but the majority of CN fans have been telling them this for a while now. The fact that they lost a shit ton of ratings and money on this CN Real shit gamble only makes it all the more baffling that they would continue to do so. I mean, would activision even have thought of making black ops and MW3 if MW2 got terrible scores and lost them a lot of money. They'd drop it in a heartbeat. Cartoon network, on the other hand, seems fully intent in losing its entire audience. Why else would they cancel good cartoon shows after only 2 months that had slightly bad ratings, but keep the reality shit that probably lost them most of their audience? Sad, too. Cartoon Network got me into anime, which in turn led me to abridged series(es?). I know we agree here, but I just wanted to say all of that anyways. Feels good saying it again.

Er.. Durr.... SCREEEEEE-

Yeah, I'm not watching that.

CN used to be so good, but then they went for the pre-teen, teen audience. After that, well... let's just say it all went down the crapper.

Probably too much credit, I used to live in Daventry [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daventry] so it's likely a real name.

I haven't watched CN for such a long time. I don't even know what's on it anymore. Don't care much, either.

I'd probably watch this movie, if just to make fun of it. But that looks like the ONLY reason to watch this movie.

But if there's ever a need to watch a movie about gamers and expecting it to be actually good, I'll stick with the Scott Pilgrim movie.
