This seemed like the most appropriate place to put this...

So I've recently been making mashups, specifically mashups with gaming music and rap, hip hop, or anything, I've even been working on one with an Elton John acapella.

I just finished one tonight and I'd like to get all of your opinions, feel free to be harsh or whatever, as long as I can take something out of what you say, don't hold back. Now, I'm not trying to be Girl Talk or anything, I'm just doing this for fun, but I do want to share this so that's why I post it.

http://www.myspace.com/lieutenantsurgemashups (I'm also not sure if there's a certain way I should post a link...)

And I know I chose an annoying song (Crank That, Soulja Boy), but I thought that a good song might balance it out (I don't think it does...)

I can't really offer you constructive criticism, for many reasons.

One of the main reasons I didn't like it may have been because I hate gaming music as a whole (And Soulja Boy. I also hate Soulja boy.) and the only few songs that I liked from a game tend to either already exist outside the game or were catered to be funny, such as the Still Alive song from Portal or the "Theres a zombie on your lawn" song from Plants vs Zombies.

As for your song, there wasn't really anything I could like. Bad Song choice, not a fan of gaming music and overall, I really just felt that the song didn't match up with the lyrics and when you make a song, that tends to be needed in my opinion. If the singer hits a higher note, the music should as well. The two need to be in synch and not doing there own thing.

Buts thats just my two cents.

Hey, no offence taken. I'm the kind of guy that likes the music in games, or I try to like it, I'm a musician and it's something I've always been picky about (I used to mute the tv with games with bad music and play something over top of it).

The song is from the first Megaman, so if you didn't play that game, maybe the nostalgia effect didn't hit you. And yes, Soulja Boy is a horrible song, but for some reason I think it fits..Thanks for the reply

No problem for the reply and that may be the thing. See, I was born into an era where the all this was happening and by the time 2-bit gaming had passed, I was just learning about Pokemon. Heck, I can only date my gaming back to the Nintendo 64 with some of the bad pokemon crossovers, Mario party and Sarges War (Ironically, my dad was the one who played that most and he was really good at it and my strive to beat him is what turned me onto it and gaming as a whole.)

So yeah, maybe its just the fact that I was born a generation too late, but either way, I wish you luck with your music and I'm sure some people may like this.
