This thread is an idea I had a while ago about life and how everyone has at least one major thing that they don't like to talk about. Something that has changed their lives, for better or worse.

My goal is to create a "List thread" detailing the major events in people's live and how to best overcome them.

Of course, there are problems with this, if you don't want to talk about something, that's fine. But at least contribute to discussion. Also, everyone is unique, so some methods of dealing with huge stressors in life may not work for some people. Keep that in mind and don't ridicule anyone because one person has a different way of dealing with something. Basically, keep an open mind.

Also, try and keep it as short and sweet as possible. I don't necessarily need your life's story to just know that you have issues with parents. If you need a template to build your little piece of the list, you can use my example.

How to deal with a criminally insane stepdad: Go into it with humor and fight for justice.

Stay out of the basement. No matter what.

Alright, ermm: How to deal with social embarrassment - Laugh it off! Who cares? If you aren't going to be worrying about it in a year, why worry about it now?

Theres another problem - List threads are frowned upon. Read the Posting Rules.

Life: survival guide

You won't. Deal with it.

same point more seriously put -

Life is inevitably going to end. So just enjoy the ride and don't stress it too much - it'll all be ok in the end.

Don't live by a guide, it won't ever cover everything.

Contructing additional power plants helps.

When there is one fallen, It will fall... when there are 100, well we don't know what happened the guy never came back.

Don't complain, or you will just end up complaining more.

This cannot be stressed enough:

When locked in combat with a Feral Dutch Robo-Drummer (native to the Copenhagen area), remember to flush twice. The sound of indoor plumbing will frighten the brute giving you +3 to your attack rolls as well as disable the beast's deadly "Drum Solo of Doom" attack (which spelled the end for numerous individuals including the 1st Elton John Clone, EJ-01).

If you have to make a large decision, and you're not sure what the consequences will be, it's reasonable to be especially careful. Getting excessively stressed out about it, trying to anticipate events that are simply impossible to foresee, and second-guessing yourself to hell isn't good for anything, and just leads to exhaustion and the irritation of people around you. Carefully consider the information available to you, don't overlook any obvious variables, and be confident that, regardless of how everything turns out, you made the best decision that you could've made with the knowledge you had.

Or, if you want it snappier: the only thing worth regretting is carelessness. So don't be careless.

Go insane. Go totally and utterly insane. Spend the rest of your days laughing to yourself in a room. Other, less intuitive souls will pity you, but they need'nt, for you're laughing to yourself in a room. Happiest existence there is.
