lately i have not been myself thinking about how bad the world is....but it just hit me that life is a wonderfull thing and that we are very lucky to be liveing it. sure the world is gone down the shitter lately but think about life itself....its great, we have games, we have the sunshine, we have family, and we have eachother. so from one human to another, i say to you fellow escapists....have a wonderfull life.
You are actually completely correct and life is indeed awesome, not just on a personal level but globally too.
World population, once thought to be a problem that would destroy us all, is levelling out. There's even more than enough food to feed them. The amount of wars happening globally has been decreasing. More governments are democratic now than ever before. The awareness of environmental problems, in generations past completely ignored by governments, have now taken centre stage of both government policy and corporate agendas (now that corporations are realising that being green is big business), many of those problems stand a good chance of being fixed. The ozone layer is actually
growing back now that humans have stopped using chloroflurocarbons. Life expectancies of humans are higher than they've ever been on average. Peak Oil is showing signs of being a complete non-event as renewable substitutes are being developed and gradually put into place for all of oil's traditional applications from transport to energy to plastic and synthetics production. Education and access to information for citizens globally has never been better. Thanks to advances in conventional weapon technology, nuclear weapons are completely passe at this point and the big kick-ass nuclear war that people thought was going to happen 20 years ago and plunge us into post-apocalyptic wasteland simply will not occur, ever.
That's not to say everything is sweetness and light, there's still problems in the world, but things are better now than they've ever been, and improving all the time. Probably the only thing that can genuinely stop the human race from progress toward brighter times at this point is a big wave of uneducated trendy Internet nihilism.
