Life is short because it can end at any time from this second on. It may not but it "can" most people don't get this fact till it's too late. You may as well enjoy life to whatever extent you can while you can. Whats the worst that could happen? if you spend your day doing something fun and exciting, it's a new feeling/experiance that you have had that can't be taken away from you. If you spend your day thinking about how life sux and nothing good ever happens thats a wasted day/month/year that you can't ever get back.

So if you enjoy life, then life is too short. If you hate life it's too long (and go kill yourself and stop being on my awesome life loving planet (srlsly)).

I can answer this entire 'life' thing with - When you're dead; You wont give give a shit.

Nobody cares about being dead - People care about getting dead.
Hey, you're right. Life isn't short, I agree with that. It's there, then it ends. But generally it takes a while.

It is all about perspective. The reason the years seems to go by faster as you get older is that you have more life to compare it to. If at one year old you could grasp the idea then 1 year would feel like an eternity, it is equal to your entire time on earth. When you are 30 it is 1/30th of your time, a tiny fraction.

It is also about where you are in life. If things are good and you are having fun it races by. If you are miserable then life can be long. Get yourself a shrew of a wife and find out.

Luckily my partner is fantastic and its flying by. "Life is short" really depends on where you are in life and how you are feeling. As a saying it is to convey a sense of urgency, to get off your arse and live life. A year will go by whether you do something constructive and make progress or just bum around the house. It is about what you have to show for it after that year.

Because it can end at any second? And besides, I know that life is long, lengthwise, but I can scarcely remember half the things I've done in it.
Just because something can end suddenly doesn't mean it's short, it just has to be approached with caution.

You spend 1/3 sleeping and another 1/3 learning (school and Uni/College/Academy) and work/pension for another 1/3. What do you make of that?

p.s I know that I got it rounded up roughly. Perhaps you have 1/7 of free time. Prove me wrong.

Life is merely a stage, and the people are actors... And... I dunno, maybe they want to go home?

Anyway, an hour is an eternity and a year is the new month. Time waits for no milk - it's pasteurized before you see it!

I personally think that time moves differently on the internet.

no matter how much I do there is always going to to something I WANT to do but haven't gotten around to it yet. I think the typical mortal life is short because there is so much I feel I need to do that I couldn't possibly do or see it all within a 100 year lifspan

of course, I'm one of those "Immortality" FTW folks, nothing messes me up more than thinking of "Time"

And to further that analogy, there's usually quite a bit of shit involved.
