Life rules... holy cow.

Well, now that the Zombieland rules are quickly becoming a cultural meme, I'm a little surprised that people haven't quoted those yet. On this post. Not so much on Facebook.

- Have Faith (not religious necessarily, but in people; try to trust them and just speak openly and honestly when at all possible)
- People need other people so ask for help (as much as it sucks to) when you're overwhelmed.
- Know and accept yourself
- If you don't like yourself, change (ala Gandhi "Be the change you wish to see in the world")
- Heartache will happen; life goes on
- Healing will not happen automatically; even the body needs food/nutrition to repair itself; thus, the spirit/mind needs action and new experiences to heal
- Be actively engaged in every endeavor you undertake (i.e. put your whole soul into what you decide to do; being there physically is not enough)
- Learn something new everyday (ala one of my slam/performance poems: "An apple's worth of knowledge a day keeps the doctor, boredom, and stupidity away")
- The only way to truly fail at something is to give up
- Girls do NOT constitute a fail/win system. There is no way to "win" in a relationship.
- As per the above: If she doesn't like you, don't force it. If you don't like her, don't force it. That leads to heartache so save the trouble and move on.
- Being honest with yourself is as important as honesty with others if not more so.
- Be you unless "you" sucks. If "you" sucks, change "you" to be better so you can be "you" without sucking.
- Be able to admit when you suck.

Yeah, I think that's about it from my tiny drop in the fountain of wisdom.

Nothing, except this statement, is absolute.

Everything in moderation, even moderation.
That second one used to be my profile motto.

Ignore undue pessimism (like a lot on this site, for example), embrace the quirky and nerdy (I love my fellow anime fan with aspergers), and live along tropes and conventions in a meta sort of way (this site should help [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/HomePage]). Also, never forget the importance of love (as in getting along and helping your fellow man, not necessarily romantic) and that things will get better, often after a good nights sleep.

Yeah, I'm not one of those people who bitches about how hope is foolish and loses faith in humanity at the drop of a hat.

Never follow the yellow brick road. Just don't.

Life is a terrible game where no one wins and everyone winds up dead, so enjoy it while you can.

Learning the truth is always worth pain.

Things don't get better, but eventually you get better at things.

Everything means something, but nothing means enough to matter.

Be careful who you attach yourself to. I try to pick my friends in such a way that if they'd all tell me to go fuck myself at the same time, I couldn't care less, but that I still manage to enjoy myself when around them.

Also, be clear in communication. Express yourself so clearly that there's no doubt about what's on your mind.

Last but not least, I live 100% by the rule "Life sucks, you might as well enjoy it".

Always be willing to break rules, even this one.
Yes, but how do you break Rule 34?

OT: -Question everything.
-Expect the worst out of life. That way, if it is the worst, you're prepared for it, and if it's not, great.

Nice rule. Welcome to The Escapist. Don't feed the trolls, keep in mind that the mods are overly strict and you'll be fine.

Trouble is something you deal with when you get there, not before it happens.
Beliefs are more like a wiki than a published work.
Only do it if it benefits you.
Die when shit gets boring.

Never assume anything. Ever.
There is no such thing as overkill.
Never, under any circumstances, regardless of the discomfort you are in, take a laxative and a sleeping pill at the same time.

Time is life. Don't waste your time.
If you're going to be bored to shit, at least do something productive in the process.
The best kind of work you can do isn't work you do because of an obligation - it's work you do for your own personal interest.
Friends and family come and go, but you are here to the end.
Seek to improve upon yourself constantly, so that you can look back at who you were a year ago and think "Man, I'm so much more awesome now!"
The fight against death is a fight that you can't win, but never go down without a fight.
Train like a warrior. Eat like a king.
The calm before the storm is often more unsettling than the storm itself.
The best taste one can experience is the taste of victory.
When near the end of a long race, sprint like a beast and throw away any sense of self-preservation. Not only are you likely to not collapse from exhaustion (and if you do, you're a badass for having the mental strength to push yourself that hard), but you'll feel like a badass once you reach the finish line.
