How about a lightsaber that works for non kick as martial artist, so it morphs into a lightshield as well, don't have to worry about hitting enemy lasers back just flip a switch and hold in a aggressive direction.

OT: Daggers, claws, wakizashi style blades, and pikes have all been done before and are all cannon. Though I suppose you could make the hilt more decorative. Such as basing it off the Phantasy Star weapons. Those are quite awesome.

To be fair, I did just add the Shinji And Warhammer 40K example to the Chainsaw Good page on TVTropes, so I was thinking about various chain-weapons. How would that presentation go?

Aside from having never played .hack GU, I have to say that that scythe is not quite as awesome as the Death Scythe. It's pretty awesome (having actually played (but not beaten) .hack//infection, the staff-turned-scythe does strike a certain chord), but not quite as awesome as the Death Scythe. If only because of the pilot, who always reminded me of myself.

.Hack//GU has quite an arsenal of unique weaponry. Including, heh, actually, including a chainsaw-scythe. No lasers though XD No joke, I'm sure I can find a cutscene somewhere...
