So pretty much, the RIAA think that limewire owes them more money than the world currently has. This is getting rather ridiculous I would say.

If this has been posted before, sorry guys

So who will pay the judge to settle the claim? Lol I do wonder what the combined retail value of all the illegally downloaded files actually is though... It's gotta be pretty big... But not like the same value as a fleet of star destroyers that's for sure...

That sounds like an appropriate and suitable figure.

Everything gone mad.

Obviously it would never happen (before someone quotes this to point it out) but if Limewire paid the full 75 trillion would it 'break' the world economy?

I think the RIAA wants to buy America... That seems pretty obvious to me.

Other then that, they will never get this money. Limewire probably doesn't have any money any more, and they certainly can't pay 75 Trillion dollars. Where would they get this money if they actually won the case? Tax Payers?

I would think $1 trillion is pushing it way too far.

But 75 trillion? Holy shit, with that money you could buy Europe if you really wanted to.

Mark the price down. Way down. To something a helluva lot more reachable.

Well, if they somehow actually got charged that it would be great. That and every other P2P program. It's unfortunate that its used 99% for piracy because its actually a very good way to send files...

Yes. Let's give the RIAA more money than currently exists on the planet. Because if there's one thing the RIAA needs, it's 75 trillion dollars.
And this is why I hate the RIAA.

I made some not to good math, with xkcd's money chart and a calculator:

*The RIAA sued LimeWire for an amount of money that is 89,5 times the cost of United States wars. And when I say war, I mean all of them, from Revolution War to Iraq.

* It amount RIAA sue for is 10 trilion dollar more than the annual GDP of the entire world.

I have to go into the music business!

You joined in 2007, surely you of all people wouldn't perform such an evil, necromancy! :D
I think the more intriguing thing here is the amount of people in this thread that got banned in the past 13 months! Only a single page and four separate users gone? Blimey. (Also, where the hell does that GIF avatar for permabanned users come from?)

GIF avatar for permabanned users??? They have the same ones they had prior to banning.
Uh... look at any of the banned users in this thread. There's a GIF of a guy in a hospital bed greeting his friend, only for his friend to pick him up and slam him into the bed, with the word 'BANNED' coming up at the bottom. Then he does it again, and this time it says 'PERMABANNED', and the dude in the bed starts crying. Unless this is just a Pub Club thing.
