Story here: http://money.cnn.com/2010/10/27/technology/limewire_court/

So, after ten years of service, the Big Lime is getting shut down. It had a pretty good run and almost everyone I know knew of its existence.

Two questions for you all, did you use Limewire regularly, and what do you think of it shutting down?

I used to use Limewire, before it became riddled with viruses and a bad reputation. Then I moved onto Frostwire, which was practically the same thing, though with less chance of viruses. Mainly I used the both of them to search for music, although I had no luck.

It's a shame to see it go, as it was very good at what it did. I suppose everything must come to an end, though.

Never used it tbh I had friends that did, but I always stayed away because I heard theres like nothing but virus' on there.
So this news doesn't really affect me.

I can't believe people were still using it with all the viruses, malware, and other crap your computer could contract from it.

Never have I used it, but I know people who did...I was always too terrified that my computer would explode! Also, as a huge fan of the artists that I listen to, I buy all my albums...so, no real need for it.

See ya, Limewire.

I don't use it and know that this changes bugger all. There are many more sites that file sharing, illegal ones at that, occur. Sometimes people need to open their eyes and they see this.

Also, are music and movies really that expensive? I will argue that Music is too overpriced but movies are fairly okay.

£5 worth of music = ~20 minutes entertainment when ever you feel like it.
£5 movie = ~90 minutes entertainment when you feel like it. Also has not been declining in quality since the early 2000s.

Calumon: They taste yucky anyway.

I used it occasionally, and I'm sad that it's going. It never let me down, if there was a song that i wanted and iTunes or Napster didn't have it then I'd use the big lime and bingo it's there...Genius

We need more of these efficient download services available, but they must be better policed.

finally! I was wondering when it would drop off the face of the planet. It was so fueled with everything the internet has already, viruses and porn, viruses in porn, viruses that give you porn, etc.

Not gonna lie; it won't be missed. That cesspit has always been crawling with viruses. Surprised anyone used it more than once or twice tbh.

I always used it for 'that one thing', you know.

The mp3-file of Benny hill you needed in your montage.
The Monster Magnet song 'Look into your orb for the warning' that ended up me buying every single cd of those guys.
The .avi-version of the fifth episode from FLCL because you needed to extract a scene from it and you didn't want to spend time ripping your DVD-box.

That one little thing that wasn't worth buying or using torrents for.

Kind of sucks, I don't feel like switching to a new program.
