I just saw a article about the limited edition console for Modern Warfare 2 and it's retailing for $400. My question is do you buy any LE consoles?

I really can't see the point unless you don't own any consoles, the real value obviously is that they are "limited" and only a few are made.

If you do own any LE consoles post them here, I like to know if anyone's got the red Dreamcast I always wanted.

Most are just appearance, and you could just paint your 360 if you dont have an Elite. Id accept any if I was offered, but thats with alot of things since free (legitimatly, not those online scams I mean) is free. Otherwise, like most 'special' stuff is just a waste of money.

I admit I was sad enough to actually do that when I first heard about the Elite, it beat paying £300 for it at the time.

I don't think it's worth the extra cost, 99% of the time I look at the TV screen and not at the console. That said, there are still some gorgeous LE's out there, like The Beatles Rock Band LE. That thing is drop-dead gorgeous.

i just don't see the point wasting all that extra money for a different colour console, as for painting it i prefer stickers instead

I was torn between the limited edition Crisis Core PSP and the Piano black. I went for the Piano black because it was cheaper and I must say I regret it now. Not just because its PSP .

I got the Elite instead of the Halo limited edition console. Hey, why not? I get a bigger HDD in return anyway.

The thing that I find curious about Limited Edition consoles is that generally they don't come packaged with the Limited Edition game.

For example this Modern Warfar Limited comes with the standard version. If you're enough of a fan to buy the console, surely you're enough of a fan for the game?

It's probably because they know you'll go and buy the Limited Edition separately anyway, another underhand marketing technique.

Though limited editions are usually worth the price, either saving money on accessories or even giving the game for free, I never get them due to always coming out after I've already bought the system.

I've been to the Microsoft room in Auckland, New Zealand, at Microsoft headquarters there. There was about 5 limited edition consoles worth about.. 10 000 AUD each. Not bad, but clearly, different strokes for different folks. If that's your hobby, then thats what you collect, if you've got the money.

Limited edition consoles that come with a game make sense IF that game is your reason for getting a console.

You too eh? What all stickers are on yours? My PS3 has 2 stickers one says "Glow in the Dark" that I pulled off a tshirt that glows in the dark, one of those weird rubber things off a toothbrush package*, and the other is off of the Bjork album Volta**.

*A toothbrush I got once had a thing on the back for tongue cleaning and I was quite gleeful when I figured out I could peel the sample thing off without it losing it's adhesive properties.

I had always thought they could have done better with limited editions... for example... the Halo 3 limited edition came with a mini spartan helmet... but why couldn't they have created a spartan helmet you could wear that had built in mic capabilities? At least it would be useful instead of a stupid trinket...

Look at the batman limited edition with the shitty plastic batarang and the Assassin's Creed II black and white editions with figurines. I think a Limited Edition should enhance the player's experience with the game.

I just purchased an Elite, and while they didn't have any limited editions I picked up a bundle that gave me Halo 3 and the wireless network adaptor. This allowed me to save some money by trading that stuff in.
