I find it funny to find so many "if you don't like that/it, don't watch it/do it" replies to a simple question from the OP. It is bypassing his comments on Lisa's show. He wants to understand why she has a show because he doesn't know why.
Instead of a straight answer, he gets slammed with all of these replies which don't help in answering his question.

So here we go, round 2: why does she have a show? My 3 cents...
-Top 5/10/20/etc... lists are very popular on the internet
-Woman are very popular on the internet

Pretty much everyone defending her has commented on her appearance. Funny how people defending Jim Sterling or the no right answer guys don't mention their attractiveness. I am not at all surprised. All the talk of sexism in games on this site doesn't seem to mean much.

Of course they're going to talk about how attractive she is. Most guys on this site (and in general) are straight, so of course they're going to notice, and not really pay attention to how attractive/not-attractive the guys are.

I'm not saying it's not sexist. I'm reasonably certain that if Lisa Foiles weren't particularly attractive, she'd not have gotten the gig. Let's be realistic about this. If it were really about her skills as an internet personality, her looks would get a passing mention at best.

BUT I'm not going to claim it's completely sexist either. She's a girl, she likes what guys on the site like, she's attractive. You can't hate on people for noticing, either. That's just not fair.

My opinion? She's eye-rolling bubbly, and her old picture on the site used to irritate the snot out of me (the controller necklace in the same visual space as her obvious cleavage). I like Ashley Esquada better. I know she's not as cheerful, but it's nice to see a woman not have to act like a cheerleader and still get cred on this site.

It's unlikely someone as unentertaining as Lisa would still have a show on here if she was male. She wouldn't have this many defenders, either.

And honestly, I doubt someone like Kathleen Devere had a (solo) show on here she'd get the same level of criticism.

I mean, shes pretty. You can say you watch her show because you like her top fives, but I won't believe you. Dont get me wrong, she isn't annoying or terrible, but my wall isn't annoying or terrible either and i dont sit and stare at that for 10 minutes. Every now and then she does a skit or something and when they are there its like, hey, at least shes trying, but when she doesn't there's just nothing humorous or informative there, and the top 5/10/whatever has been done to death, and done to death much better.

Still, at least they didn't revive game dogs.

Keep in mind there's a lot of people on this site and a lot of people who insist sexism isn't an issue in gaming. I'd wager the people who defend her show because "she's cute" aren't largely the ones addressing sexism. Now, I could be wrong. It could be that the same group of people who are all "I WOULD GIVE HER THE D" are the ones complaining about sexism in gaming, but the names I'm actually noticing tend to fall the other way.

I don't understand it, but people do like Folies. When she went on the hiatus for that year or however long, a lot of people were saying they wanted Top 5 to return the most. Probably the majority preferred Folies to other shows like Associates, Daily Drop, or Brawl.

I've never watched a second of the series, so I can't throw my opinion in. If people are happy she's back, then I don't see why I should hate that she's back.

Because enough people like her? Hey, YOU TOO can submit a show to the Escapist, and even if it is dumb, if enough people like it (and it doesn't clash too wildly with what nebulous concept of what the Escapist 'stands for' or 'is about'), it will stay on.

Also: I'm not going to comment on Lisa being Pretty/Ugly, because that's fucking irrelevant. We shouldn't judge a woman (or a man) by their looks when it comes to providing comedy or interesting commentary. But Lisa, damn, your smile in the presentation-picture? Terrifying. As in 'oh shit is she going to kill me?'. It's..Really unsettling.

I watch her Top 5 because the videos are entertaining and she is affable, charming and sincere in her delivery. Sure, she's easy on the eyes and that helps but it's certainly not the primary reason I watch.
