I'm on these forums often and other various websites, most of them having to do with music. A common thread across almost all of them is the frequent appearance of lists of all manner. It's like we've all become versions of the main character in High Fidelity. Reading about the changes the internet age has change the way we read and think (quick bullet-point style information with constant links to distract us), I'm wondering if the lists are sort of a cop-out, a means to speak of the things we enjoy without discussing them too deeply. At the very least, don't you think seeing list after list is somewhat tiresome?
