What he's refferring to is that you can play something completely different. You can make a racing game, a sports game, a classic story-driven adventure game, Teris, Space Invaders, Pong, and according to Jumplion, Metal Gear. That's in addition to recreating Mario and Sonic levels, or even making your own.
So, LBP makes up a story? Or does it already have a billion storylines saved onto it? And does it pick a particular storyline depending on how you build the level?

Wow, I have got to get this game!

Or better yet, make up your own story! Think about it, just put in a bunch of pirates, ninjas, explosions, and a journy to candy land. It's perfect! who needs pre-set stories when you can use your own imagination?

So you just type in your whole story, and LBP recognizes what you're writing about, and converts that into a full-blown story-drive adventure game?

Like I said, I have to have this game.

It's beyond that of mere humans can conceive. It was made by humans from the year 4328, only they didn't want to include the option to go into the game yourself, which is normal by 4328.

when I see a full LBP game that doesn't make me want to crush kittens under the wheel of an SUV, then I'll care if it gets anything short of 9 :p

and the metacritic thing is clearly an attempt by opposing fanboys to tarnish this great game.
if i owned a 360, i'd be ashamed of the people it associated me with.
then again, this recent Koran fiasco has revealed some major turds in the Sony camp.

Dude, if you found out that your game said "Every soul shall have the taste of death" and "All that is on earth will perish", you'd freak too.

I personally am amazed it got by the OFLC.
That doesn't mean a quick, mandatory patch wouldn't have sufficed. A disk-recall is hardly necessary. I'm blaming Sony executives for this one.

Their reasoning was that not everyone has an online connection, and while that is true in many cases, a patch would have sufficed especially considering they had one ready at day one.

But either way, I'm pissed off at E.V.E.R.Y.O.N.E.

So, you're on a computer, on the *internet*, so you must be a racist. Hey everyone, let's go get PS3s so we can all hang with the cool, nice, funny, smart people who understand the meaning of life.

No no no and shut up.

I can only guess you can script certain things to happen, like at a certain point you can make the little sackboys enter a room and in a distant balcony a bad guy says something you typed while doing the level, then the fight begins et cetera.

This game is just oozing charm!
Yes, yes, yes and shut up.

I've played the Beta, and a lot will rest on how much perseverance people have for level creation: it is very time-consuming and can wig out and wreck your creations at almost any momet, from my experience. people prepared to spend time on the level creation will love it.
As time goes by, level editing will get much much simpler. By taking other peoples levels and objects and being able to re-arrange them, rather thank make them yourself, you'll be able to make a great level much quicker.
Theres also an undo button, apparently.
Yes, the undo function is helpful. As long as you unpause the game after each alteration to your level, then it's no really big deal. I just know I have the patience of a wired blowfly and I'll get frustrated easily. But the copy-and-paste function is very useful.

Or maybe running around as a flammable sack person is kinda boring? C'mon, there must've been at least some doubt in your mind about this game. The only real test is sitting down with a controller and playing it yourself.

I mean, golly, I've never seen a video game be overhyped by the media before. That'd just be crazy.
That might be slightly believable if the game was out yet. This 1879 people who have played the full game 2 weeks fbefore it was released.
You seeing the flaw here yet?
You're right, naturally, but I wanted to play Devil's Advocate. Declaring a negative score incorrect because it does not agree with Metacritic just irked me. Haven't we had enough games getting 100's to learn our lesson by now? I mean, deep breath here, the game might be boring. It's possible. They might be lying to you. It's happened before.
Woah woah woahhh... Are you saying people lie?
You sir... are a liar...
Rot in smiley face land!

You guys and gals should realize that there could be more reason behind the lower "user" scores than just bored rabid fanboys ripping on it because it is recieving alot of hype. I own a 360 but the only fanboy I am is good games no matter what system they may be exclusively on. And I can tell you right now that LBP has no appeal to me. If I thought it could I would be at Gamestop right now grabbing a PS3 and preordering it. For me I don't want to invest a ton of time making a level for some ppl to rip through it in 5 minutes. I also don't want to invest a ton of time into a level for it to be ignored and never played. I am just not that creative.

So since the creator half is out for me lets look at the player half. I would be at the mercy of ppl on the internet. Sure there will be some fun UC levels I have no doubts. There is also gonna be some terrible levels and some levels ppl will make just because they want to be douchebags. So with my limited game time to begin with I am going to have to try and find the fun ones. Although the whole review levels thing is a good idea in theory it won't be anywhere near accurate because ppl will rate levels based on stupid things like the creator's name or rate the bad levels high just to trick others into suffering through them (cuz I know I would, misery loves company :D ).

Thats my 2 cents anyways.

I think Im the only person who isn't a fanboy who beleives his, but I honestly don't understand why everyone is making such a big deal about LBP. Yes it looks fun, but it apears to get old quickly, and the whole "create your own levels" aspect is a bit well...it dosn't appeal to me, particularly when I use SDK - Hammer. Theres going to be a lot of shit, a lot of idiots (you know, unfinishble levels etc..)

The auto - jump system seems a bit strange to me, particularly as its a platformer....

Im glad that the PS3 is at long last getting a good game, but I've read that this game alone is meant to swing the console wars in Sonys favour...

Large investments of time for short payoffs are regular in the entertainment business. And stupid stuff is everywhere.
