LittleBigPlanet Dev Squashes Image Importing Rumors

Contrary to previous reports, Sony's creation-based platformer, LittleBigPlanet, will not be receiving an update to allow for the direct importing of images into the game.

Rumors have been circulating throughout the week as to a statement supposedly made by Media Molecule co-founder, Alex Evans, at the Nottingham gaming festival, GameCity. So goes the rumor [http://www.ps3attitude.com/new/2008/11/littlebigplanet-to-import-images-by-christmas/], Mr. Evans had confirmed that LittleBigPlanet would be receiving a pre-holiday update to allow for the proper importing of user-generated images. Currently, the only way to import pictures into a level is to utilize the PlayStation Eye camera.

The community manager for LittleBigPlanet, better known as "Sam_Protagonist," debunked [http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=littlebigplanet&message.id=179461#M179461] the rumor on the official PlayStation forums, stating that while, "Image importing is very much technically viable [...] there are currently no plans to introduce it for a variety of reasons."

It doesn't take a Sackboy scientist to figure out exactly what those reasons are, as the duo Penny-Arcade have properly online create mode [http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2008/10/8/] has yet to be delivered.

and I was so looking forward to the hardcore pornography and national socialist workers party levels...

Having said that, if they can import with the Playstation camera, what's to stop them just using that for portraying mind bending sex positions and nefarious propaganda?

They're just hoping that those people won't actually take the time to get a playstation eye. Before LittleBigPlanet came out, nobody cared about the playstation eye.

...I don't get it, whats the other way supposed to be?
Probably getting images off USB sticks or running a cable from the pc.

I sense an artificial shortage coming on while they figure out how to censor uploaded content...

This reminds me, I promised myself I would make a Penis level (with a penis shaped volcano spewing hot "lava" nonetheless) to my friend.

And ideas? ;D

The volcano should stick out of a forest of brown 'bushes'.

You can have thorny bushes if you want.
But lets stop short of having crabs roam free in them.
This is extremely awkward considering I read your post in the Surgery thread.

But it definately needs those crabs, make it more dangerous for the Sackboys to traverse the "forrest".

It's just a body part dude, so without further ado:
(pulls lever) Crabs away!!... where would the world be without the double entendre.

with regards the surgery post. Wasn't/isn't half as bad as it sounds, although I have a truly epic scar.

How have people been importing the images then? There was the Batman Arkham level and a Star Wars level that had stickers that didn't look like they were taken by a camera.
