Every state or region around the world has its own little food item that you cant really find done as well anywhere else. What is it in your area?

Michigan makes these things called Pasties. its basicly gravy, potatoes, ruhbarb, celery, chicken or beef, carrots, and onions wrapped in dough. its fantastic.

Local specialty, I think not. Come to Europe or Canada and Pasties are a staple food. In fact the full name is a Cornish Pasty, they originate from Cornwall.

But Fish and Chips seems curiously English, I rarely see it anywhere else unless there's a big English ex pat population.

Also, Toad in the Hole. Some Canadians thought they were actually getting cooked frog when I told them it was Toad in the Hole for dinner. Luckily Canadians are too nice to complain...
...no really, they sat there in silent horror then almost burst in relief when Sausages in Yorkshire pudding were put in front of them.

Also, Mcdonalds goes the Soylent Green route. Where do they get their meat anyway?

i'm from the southwest of england a few counties over from where pasties were invented so we get loads of them (i mean we have three pasty shops in the town where i live, and it isn't a very big town). i agree they are awesome

i'm from somerset in england, so the best thing we do is cider and perry, and boy do we do them well. there's a shop near where i live where you can buy 5 litres of pretty strong, good tasting cider for £6 and there are loads of local producers you can only buy in this part of the country.

In Australia we have meat pies.
Beef, chicken, curry beef, lamb and rosemary, the list is endless.
Add a type of meat into a pie and there you go!
Pastry and meat, so simple, yet so good.

If you ever go to the UK they do them in Cornwall and they are the bomb.
