Locked topics...

Okay, so I just spent the best part of fifteen minutes writing a post to the 'Cannibis' thread, and found only after I clicked post that it had been locked some time during.

I've had this happen a lot to me, but there's one thing that always pisses me off most about it...

No reason is given.

Every other forum I visit always has the moderator post with a reason why a thread is locked. In this case, and like most other locked thread cases here, no reason is given whatsoever, and I wouldn't be pissed off about spending fifteen minutes typing if I knew why my post can't be accepted.

the Moderators dont have To give reasons, if they find it violates the forum rules, they are well within there rights to shut it down, just like if they find a person too offensive, they can take action to stop them, by it a Ban, temp or perm or Probation

I can understand why the thread was locked. The Escapist doesn't want to be seen as promoting the use of illegal drugs.

If a thread gets locked, I assume it violated one of the many rules set forth by the Escapist that you were required to read when you joined the forums.

Honestly, you can't expect the moderators to explain everything all the time. They are people with real lives, too.

Well if you had searched about the topic (not saying you should have) you would find that the tpoic has been done before.

It really depends on the thread locker in question. Wilson and nilcypher are usually pretty good about explaining. If someone on the Staff does it, it's usually just a lock without explanation.

If you're looking for a specific question about a thread, it'd be smarter to ask a moderator directly instead of making a thread about it. This thread will very likely be locked because of that.
