Well, I would recommend the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy text adventure, just because you have to think so far outside the box, but at the same time, most of it sort of lacks a sense of normal logic. It's also maddeningly frustrating, and it wouldn't surprise me if it had driven people as far as murder.

These [http://www.addictinggames.com/puzzle.html] are puzzle/board games. They might not qualify to be logic/mind games, but there are a lot of games where you have to use your brain.
Also any text adventure should get your mind working.

Dunno what you mean by "smart."

Puzzle games require thinking, but games from strategy (RTS & turnbased) to RPG's and even tactical shooters require planning and strategy to be truly GOOD at them. If your looking for purely "intelligence" building i would suggest games like PuzzleQuest or their ilk. Looking to build reaction speed and quick on your feet tactical thinking, go for Ghost Recon or games like that. Looking to get a broader tactical and strategical workout for your brain, why not a Total War game or Civilisation etc???
